Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
Kaymyth replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
If you keep feeling sick during training, that's an indication that he may have you do doing too much. -
Battery-inflated air mattresses: they're not just for wimps!

It's slightly more interesting when you get to tour the inner workings and see the stuff.

Incorrect. 2+2=pickle, therefore 2+3=cucumberpi.

The Moon has a big role in this. It used to be a lot closer to the Earth than it is now, and is slowly receding out. As it gets farther away, it bleeds off a little bit of Earth's rotational speed. The days are, very slowly, getting longer and longer. This is why we have to sneak in leap seconds now and then. I, too, had the impression that he was talking about specific people, who for obvious reasons he didn't want to outright name. I think this is a good time to point out to folks that we're all human, here. We have all had very different experiences with religious leaders and/or churches. It's worth noting that for some of us, those experiences were highly negative. Religion, by its very nature, evokes a strong emotional response in people. For some, it's quite positive, but for others, those experiences left psychological and spiritual wounds behind. If someone says something that you personally find offensive, please take a moment to think about why they might have said what they did. They may very well be speaking from a place of profound pain, and even taking the intiative to say what they did opened up an old scar for poking and prodding. They are showing you this thing of theirs that hurts. Please try not to have your first reaction be to poke it with a sharp stick.

And then turn on the passive-aggressive channel by telling him that if he really loved you, he'd let his precious daughter get some much-needed rest. -

*zzzzzzzz* See, the lectures can't annoy you if you're already asleep when they start! -
Dude, you know me in real life. I think that disqualifies you from being able to nominate me. There's a rule. Or something.

I put purple streaks in my hair for my wedding. I think my mother's jaw must've ached by how hard she had to work to keep from criticizing it.

You realize that this sort of talk only encourages him, right? I gave you your 1000th upvote.

*groan*

Yes. The gendering of the example seems arbitrary and nonsensical to me.

Really, you all should know better by now than to assume that logic and Thirdgen's humor have anything to do with each other ever.

Heh, you and everyone else. Generally, I think it actually involves "write and play some music". It's a key component.

Step 1: Start a band. Step 2: ??? Step 3: Fame and fortune!

Oh, very well. 1. This one is not so weird. Subconscious is trying to work on the attempt to understand what it's like to be other people. Subconsciouses are pretty good at this kind of stuff. There was one time where I heard the theory that some people hold that it's impossible to read in your dreams. Well, my subconscious said, "Challenge accepted!" and I woke up the next morning with a very vivid memory of having just been spelling words out with Scrabble tiles. So I, at least, possess some level of reading comprehension while asleep. 2. The mind is cluing in on what some people like to call the akashic record. Basically the theory that the entirety of human experience is recorded somewhere on the spiritual plane. 3. Ghosts are sneaking in and trying to tell their life stories. Hilarity and identity crises ensue. Not completely far-fetched if you believe in ghosts (though I'm sure a lot of folks here don't), as certain channels can open up when you're asleep that you normally keep locked down tight.

Augh you are ADORBS. I think I need to dig through my wedding photos for one to put up now. It's the only way I can measure up.

I...have some theories on this. They're really, really weird. Seriously, if you guys knew half the Weird Stuff I've run into or gleaned little bits of information on, half of you would be convinced I'm nuts, and a good portion of the rest thinking I'm trolling.

Oh, man. I cannot tell you how many times I have yelled at a protagonist, "Stop trying to be the Good Guy and shoot the villain already! If you let them go now, you KNOW the destruction they will wreak! Put on your big girl panties and DO IT." The latest was Jupiter Rising. Seriously, Jupiter, Creepy McCreeperson basically just told you that no matter what, someday he's going to harvest your entire planet. Making them safe now does nothing in the long run (assuming he's telling the truth), because someday your children or grandchildren or something are all going to die along with billions upon billions of innocent people at his order. Just. shoot. him. in. the. head. The Protagonist Is Too Good For This World And The Villian Knows It. I hate that trope.

*hugs* Losing pets is hard. They're basically family members with entirely too-short lifespans. They don't always leave, though. The ones who are super-attached to their people sometimes stick around, at least for a while, to let you know that they're OK. There'll be a flash out of the corner of your eye of a familiar wagging tail, or a sudden weight and sensation of purring on the bed at your feet, even though you see nothing there. -
I have no rejoinder to this except this:

Wow. I did not know that she's done that. Huh. Maybe she's finally starting to grow up a bit. Or... <<<WARNING! Controversial Opinion Inside Spoiler Tags!>>> I wouldn't be surprised if, over the course of our lives, my husband and I wind up "adopting" various youths who drift in through the pagan channels. It wouldn't be the first time. Granted, our first young adult adoptee wasn't kicked out for being LGBT (though she is), but because her parents were the sort of complete and utter crazypants that led me to think many, many angry thoughts. They are, basically, terrible people.

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
Kaymyth replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
That's OK. I did it for you. -
I'm glad your friend's family came around and accepted him for who he is. Sadly, not all families react so well. LGBT youth make up a disproportionately high amount of the homeless population. Coming out presents a real risk for many young folks.

Yep. Especially since it's already mine. Two years of payments down, just one more to go. And it's a Honda Fit. It's blue, it's boxy, and it's bigger on the inside than the outside. It's a Cardis. My new license plate even says "VWORP".
