  1. Action 2: House Wilson will be training their military in the Wilson training yard.
  2. Blue is to be used specifically for OOG discussion, as per the general rules. Please adhere to this. Thank you.
  3. That's incorrect, actually. Lincoln is on the five, Jefferson is on the two. Tubman isn't on a bill yet (hence current bills). I suppose Adams and Hancock would count since I didn't specifically say the front of the bill even if that's what I meant. If you're curious, Madison has his own bill (5,000), as does Grant (50), Wilson (100,000), Cleveland (1,000), and McKinley (500). As Lincoln is the 16th president, there were 14 presidents between the two them. WLIU, name 8 of those 14.
  4. True. But it's not something you have to sustain for the entire time. The game isn't meant to function with people guessing based on the first bad description. Most descriptions are bad enough that they need at least one hint to put people on the right track. Sometimes up to 6-8 hints. But there kind of needs to be some sort of consistency with hint-giving--and by consistency, I'm not saying sustaining 1 hint ever 2-3 hours. I'm saying 6-8 in a 48 hour time period, which is totally manageable. Point is, the game was started with the idea that there should be a new description at least every 24 hours to keep the game moving along. But since a lot of us do have work and school, that's a little too quick (if you're expecting someone to be giving enough hints in that time period). 48 hours is better. A week or two is a little extreme, and makes the game lose both pace and fun. @Slowswift If you think people are familiar with it, give another hint. Even if it makes the answer completely obvious, that's okay (after all, I once described Hook in here by saying something about chronomentrophobia ). Better to start the next round by someone guessing it than revealing something easy.
  5. Well, I think that depends on the person who's asking. If you know that people are familiar with whatever you're describing, you keep giving hints, getting more and more obvious until someone guesses it. If you're not sure if people are familiar with it, and everyone gives up, then you give the answer and either do another description (hopefully easier or more mainstream) or let someone else do it. In theory, the descriptions are only supposed to take about 48 hours max to answer, because, as the OP mentions, you're supposed to be giving a hint every couple of hours. But...we haven't really been doing that lately.
  6. It's been 16 days since the last one was answered and Chandrian still hasn't come up with a new challenge, so I'll just jumpstart this with my own: WLIU, name 8 people (Presidents or other) on current US dollar bills (bonus points if you can name the denomination).
  7. Night 10 [writeup] --- Winter (3) : Bugsy, Meta Elodin (1) : Lopen Winter was lynched! She was an Aiel-Blooded villager! Bugsy is now Mayor. This cycle will end at 9 AM MST on Wednesday (unless Gamma can take over again, and then it'll probably end about 11 PM/12 AM EST later that night).
  8. If anyone other than Gamma were to post it, I would say Alv, since he's the impartial mod. I'm checking with Gamma though, to see if he'll be able to get to it soon. Hang tight.
  9. Doesn't hurt to set a date now. Sounds like early August would be best, so from the 1st to the 5th if we don't want to go to a weekend. What's best for everyone?
  10. My biggest pet peeve: the term "friend zone." While a girl refusing to go out with a guy because they don't want to damage the friendship happens, it usually only happens among teenagers. And in those cases, it's usually because the girl isn't just friends with the guy, but that he's also friends with her friends, and she's genuinely worried that if the date goes badly, it will damage the friend group that she values. Is this fear rational? No. But it's understandable in that age group, where self esteem issues are huge. However, "friend zoning" in its truest, purest sense is not really a thing once you get into your 20's (except among people who still want to live like they're teenagers). So why do so many guys still use that term as they get older? I went on a date this last week, and I swear this guy had an ego the size of a small planet. He was one of the most arrogant people I've met in my life. But it wasn't blatant arrogance. He actually came across as a nice guy, until you realize that he just wants to talk about himself and wants you to ask him questions about him so he can talk about himself and try to make you jealous of the things he's done that you want to do (he also had the gall to try to teach me about family history and genealogy and tell me about how what I was saying about it was wrong, even though I've been doing it since I was 12-13, so for 16-17 years and I know far, far more about it than he could ever hope to know). He's in his 30's and he said he's never been in a relationship because girls always friend zone him. Yeah, that's not friend zoning. That's girls not being interested in an arrogant person. But he insists on calling it friend zoning so he doesn't have to accept that he might just have an ego problem that he should work on if he ever actually wants to be in a relationship. A healthy relationship, that is. And that is my experience with the term friend zone: the guys who use it have serious social or personality issues but because they don't want to accept that they are at least partially responsible for their lack of dating luck, they blame the girl, saying that she just won't give them a chance. That they're a nice guy and girls are always trying to go for the bad boys, so nice guys get the shaft because they're just seen as friends. No. No. Just no. The prevalent abuse of that term makes me hate it with a fiery, burning passion, even in the cases when it's used correctly.
  11. Oh, yes, the Wilk would work. And hopefully we wouldn't need that much pizza. I wouldn't want to use the atrium once the semester starts because a lot of students use the atrium to study, so having that large of a group in there would be rather distracting. Better to use a place like the Wilk, that isn't usually quiet during the semester.
  12. I'm fine with it. Just makes supplying food slightly more problematic. We could probably still use the atrium, at least until the semester starts. Not sure about after that. Might have to find an empty classroom.
  13. Did you guys find it?
  14. I'll actually be on campus; I've just got something going on at 6:30 so I'll be a little late, but Tuesday would work perfectly well since I'll be on campus.
  15. So probably Tuesday or Wednesday then, since Alyssa can't do Thursday. I'm good with either day, though if it's Tuesday, I'll be a little late.
  16. It's even better when you're playing it at 2-3am in the BYU Bookstore at a table of 10-12 Sanderfans plus Peter. So. Freaking. Hilarious. Someone gave me a card with Rock's real name on it just to see what how I'd pronounce it (remember how I said it was 3 am? Yeah....)
  17. @lyssie95 you need to bring Cards Against the Cosmere. I've missed that so darn much.
  18. I don't really agree with that, though I'm sure there are exceptions. When I was a teenager, I had a lot of "crushes". I'm pretty sure at any given time, I liked at least 5-6 guys. These were crushes that I couldn't control. I liked one guy on and off for about 6 years. And I didn't even want to like him for most of that time, but I had no control over it. Fast forward 11 years and I have far more control over that then I did as a teenager. I'm still single, but I no longer have to worry about not being able to control who I like or liking someone really shortly after I meet them for no good reason. It's tempered, due to maturity and me coming to understand myself better. This is very much an age-related thing, though there are no doubt exceptions to it. But I think generally people are more able to control their feelings towards others as they get older.
  19. EFY is in full swing and it is very loud. We'll be moving it up to the third floor of the JFSB in a little nook (kind of like the area we went for bit last year).
  20. I'll be there too.
  21. That was actually firstRainbowRose that asked the pregnant woman question. We won't repeat the question she asked on my behalf.
  22. So sounds like Tuesday/Thursday are best. I'd prefer tomorrow evening, but I can do either. Does anyone else have a preference?
