  1. Plus, this is the 17th Shard, and we spell things properly around here. None of this "abbreviation" nonsense.
  2. Okay. Let me just echo Twy and ask what this has to do with anything at all.
  3. Firefight Spoilers:
  4. Your assertion is incorrect. Aside from a handful of very special Epics (like Firefight,) Epic powers in the Reckonerverse are very specific and very "hard," except in cases where the Epic in question defies Calamity's expectations directly or else has him augment their powers, in which case they're sort of mutable. You'll notice that David can compile exacting descriptions of what an Epic can and cannot do, down to the range of Regalia's projection and the cooldown of Obliteration's teleport. Not to mention the fact that for RP purposes we need reasonably specific definitions of what someone can do. We need to know if Nighthound can outrun Timeport, or whether Lightwards or Chimera is in control of the resurrected "children." Stuff like this comes up. It helps us be creative, too, like in the case of Refill and Ziplock (or whatever his name was.)
  5. Yes. I'm pretty sure that posting our additions on the Diaemus thread as well as the wiki would encourage activity, since the creation of new material would be more public.
  6. No? We really do need more Epics in the group. We have some lined up, of course, and they're probably going to show up soon, but introducing this guy (in the simplified form that I suggest, anyway,) right now would give us a new perspective to write the next part of the bandit thing from (like I said, it's stalled at the moment.) We can probably just have him replace the guy who reshapes sonic waves.
  7. Well, all the members of the gang are kind of just mooks. If we did use him, he wouldn't need to be especially powerful. If he was, in fact, the gang might not actually lose the next engagement, which could be problematic. So yes. I was just imagining him having two pouches full of objects: one of them is full of weapons, and the other is just random stuff he throws around to make things more interesting, like tables and palm trees and hamburgers.
  8. Well, I was planning to use the version of the powerset that I mentioned, so no extradimensional powers whatsoever, no PI, and no transformation of animals, humans, or Epics, just the ability to turn objects less than 200 kg into dice size cubes, then turning them back by rolling them along the ground. Freq's gang is recruiting at the moment, so it isn't really a stretch. There were a handful of other characters we were planning on bringing in anyway.
  9. No? Because I actually like it. I'm picturing him as a gambler-type figure. He throws his cubes out randomly, like dice, just to see what happens. I'd like to use him in Freq's gang, if you don't mind. Maybe rename him "Lottery" or something. It would give me a chance to pick the bandit thread back up, since Shattered hasn't responded in a while (he was up next.) EDIT: Kobolds are generally depicted as lizard-goblin things, if that helps.
  10. Maybe. Whether or not it would work on healers and invincibles is debatable, but anyway, the limitation that methods of killing (or disabling, or whatever) like this don't affect or are less effective on Epics is pretty normal.
  11. Yes, yes it is. With enough preparation, he could do almost anything (since he can transport objects of all sizes around with him. Also, the fact that he can neutralize all Epics instantaneously, which is PI-breaking. It's interesting, but I'd say put an upper limit on the amount of mass he can transform at once (200 kg?) then take away the storage space ability and just make the cubes smaller (dice size.) Have the transformation work on vanillas but not Epics.
  12. What? So kind of a ripped Shia LaBeouf kind of look? Because that's the vibe I get from that picture.
  13. Actually, I like that. Just, like, an incredibly weak Epic that joins the Empire of Light for the express purpose of following Backtrack around and teasing him and making him miserable.
  14. An Epic Edge just introduced in the Wastelands.
  15. Hold on... was that in there? Well, just FYI, the entire point of the powersets of the 3 main lawkeepers in Salem is that they can keep even the most powerful Epics under control, when working together. No one in the city is above the law. It's one of the city's themes. Don't worry: you don't have to make your Epic invincible for them to survive in Oregon.
  16. I was planning to do a thing this in-game night.
  17. Today is a pretty efficient day.
  18. Welp, there it was. Crush had bared his soul to an efficient-looking government worker, and all he got for it was to be shunted aside like inorganic fois gras on a snooty Frenchman's plate. Sure, she had a little pile of notes that were supposed to help one of the higher-ups make an informed decision, but in a bureaucracy like this, her "recommendation" would probably just go through a rigorous 5k being handed from orderly to orderly until someone finally got tired and chucked it in the garbage, leaving Crush to be assigned to pick up litter on Highway 84 for the rest of his life. Sparks! She was supposed to clear him, not... do whatever that was. Crush wasn't having any of it. He'd give it a week, maybe. Just enough time to meet the people, see the sights, and maybe figure out how to kill Deathwish or something, then he'd bust out. There was no prison that could hold Orange Crush, no chains that could keep him bound, when he was fueled by the power of boredom. His only regret was that he wouldn't be able to give that awesome speech he'd been planning. So he didn't even bother resisting when a pair of soldiers grabbed him and pulled him out of the office to escort him back to his cell. They'd all regret it when some High Epic appeared and blew the town to smithereens while they stood by helplessly, but it wasn't really Crush's problem anymore.
  19. Uh... just Crush and Elsa, maybe. Elsa may not actually be fit for release.
  20. Ooh. Can you have Vondra look into some of the new arrivals and see who's okay to be deployed against Quicksilver? I think it's been long enough.
  21. That's actually an interesting question. It is wide open, theoretically, but we might be able to make an Epic from Rowena part of Freq's recruiting spree, then have a little interaction. Then again, if we're aiming for moving the story along as quickly as possible, maybe that isn't such a good idea.
  22. The smell got clearer as Canis approached Centerville. Smoke. Something in the town had been burning recently. Not surprising. It was ruled by a fire Epic and a guy who summoned gasoline, but Comet wasn't really the type to raze his domain just for kicks. The prick was always going on about how his podunk town would be considered a metropolis by the time the turf wars were over. Though if Comet had burned and ditched the place, Canis wouldn't have to worry about recruiting him. That'd be good. The chull was annoying as Calamity to work with, even if they might need him. When had the City Guard gotten so strong anyway? Sparkly teleporters with the ability to summon spontaneous explosions? Frost manipulators of questionable copyright-infringing status? It was all too much. Too much for Canis' weak little group of allies. Freq was right. They needed to branch out and get some more Epics to fight with them, if they wanted to take The Dalles. As he got within a few hundred meters, Canis slowed to a trot. He sensed a few people. A couple of those he had once touched the blood of. He smiled as he remembered them. Jogging at normal speed, he could make out a few more details. Smoke in one of the corners. Northwest, or southeast, or... he could never quite remember. No big deal. Directions were stupid anyway. If Canis got lost, he could always just turn around and run until he found someplace he recognized. Sure, you occasionally ran into an ocean or something, but directions were for slow people, and that was that. Canis sped up again, kicking up dust on the dirt road. Within just a few seconds, he was crouched between two buildings on the edge of the city. He peeked out onto the street, trying to figure out where all the vanillas had gone. Calamity, this place was tiny. Just from right here, even with buildings blocking his view and stuff, he could make out a full third of the houses in the town, including the school building that Comet used as a "palace." If anything, this just proved how much of a sparkhead Comet was for bragging about ruling it. Tiny little farming town, that's all it was. Canis dashed out at normal speed, turned a corner, and found himself facing a group of eight-something people dressed in matching, ragged red T-shirts. They jumped, surprised, then raised their guns, yelling at him to get on his knees. Canis grinned, lifting his blood-stained arms in mock surrender. He dashed between them as they began firing, letting their bullets and buckshot graze the empty air, slicing small cuts in each member of the group. Well, by small, he meant not-limb-severing. He licked up a drop of each person's blood, then continued down the street and veered left. Sparks, you never got used to being shot at, no matter how much you loved violence. Though to be fair, other peoples' blood did always taste better when your own was pumping hard and fast. Also, what in Calamity just happened? This wasn't the city militia Comet had kept around during his rule, and it wasn't the army of another Epic taking over. He snuck a peek through a few windows. Bodies pumped full of bullets, trails of blood indicating people being dragged out of their homes and executed. A conqueror looking for someplace to rule wouldn't systematically empty the town, right? These were bandits, though disturbingly, Canis found the odd signs that indicated that some sort of Epic was leading them. Small objects randomly turned to metal, trails of water criss-crossing the streets. Not powersets that he recognized, but... you might as well have put up a sign that said "multiple Epics were here. And destroyed stuff." Canis rushed into the schoolbuilding just as he felt the bandits round the corner onto his street. More squads seemed to be running in from other parts of town. Last chance for Podunksville. If Comet, or any of his associates were around, they'd be there. If not, it was time to leave. He started flipping open doors. Sparks. It smelled like gasoline. Really pungently. Huh. The floor was wet, too. Actually, it looked this whole place was covered in gas. Comet's buddy, Slick, probably had something to do with that. Oh, yeah. Also, it meant that this place was super flammable. Just as he was noting this, a voice called out from above. "Alright! I didn't figure you Calamity-cursed idiots would be stupid enough to come for me again after what I pulled last time, but here goes: You've got five seconds to leave before I burn this building to the ground!"
  23. Neat. If you really want your character to shine, I'd suggest you create an interesting little plotline for him/her to pursue. Normally, it'd be okay to just embroil them in whatever crazy hijinks are going on around town, but this is Salem, where hijinks are few and far between, and there hasn't even really been a major struggle so far.
  24. Sure. What did you have in mind?
  25. Originally, there were just three Epics in the official "city guard" (it was supposed to be a very small organization, sort of a peacekeeping corps,) but people sort of keep creating Epics that are in it, so I guess now it's structured more like a volunteer sort of thing. Mouldbreaker, Antithesis, and Showstopper (as well as maybe someone who could be retconned in. Did I mention that the latter two are pick-uppable?) are the officially sanctioned lawkeepers, and then there are a series of Epics that are trusted with a certain amount of legal authority and the ability to requisition militiamen (50-ish vanillas that do most of the mundane policework in the city.) The volunteers are kept on a very tight leash.
