Thanks! I like him, so I hope he doesn't die, I'd be completely down with him reassembling Honor and ascending to true shard status, but then being relegated to kind of the background since he can't just godsmack (teehee) Odium.

I think powercreep is kind of the point. The revelation about the Eile Stele, that the humans had destroyed their last planet, combined with super-duper-surgebinding in Oathbringer. I think they're more powerful now than they used to be, back in the Radiant days, due to the death of Honor and his regulatory hand. I think we're going to see the power levels being escalated to where the very fabric of Roshar is under assault.

I think we'll learn most/all of them for the following: Lightweaver Windrunner Bondsmith Elsecaller Skybreaker (doneskies, obvs)<--Not sure why I felt the need to talk like a teenager here, but, well, there it is.
-
I choose to believe you're wrong, because...Just because (finds something heavy to throw) Edit: So, where is the info that he's going to die or ascend coming from? Assumption or WoB? I'm far more attached to the Bondsmith ideals than I am to Dalinar so this won't kill me (i'll probably cry, tho), but this is news to me.

Recent WOB says that he's on his third.

The primary reason I haven't gotten a bondsmith tattoo yet is that I'm waiting on all the oaths. So far I'm 100% on board. I filter my actions by whether or not they unite people, I 100% agree with rising again, better, each time I fall...I NEED the last oaths... I sure hope I don't have to wait 10 years for them...

Thank you, see, I told y'all I had a faulty memory. I withdraw my objections.

I don't think this is the case. I don't have the reference now, but I seem to remember Szeth somewhere in TWoK or WoR musing on the 8 other honor blades back in Shinovar. Then it becomes news at some point that one of them had been stolen. I think this is when Nale got his back. Now, I may very well be imagining ALL of that, it's happened before, so...Anyone who has a better memory than me...

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I think this is a premature conclusion. You might be right, but I certainly don't think we can state this as confirmed yet.

My thoughts are that it is what Nightblood was supposed to be.

While the spren often have incomplete memories, they haven't been wrong about anything they've said "This is so" thus far, I'm still inclined to trust them when they make factual statements (look at Syl & the voidspren in part 1, lots of people thought she was wrong about that, turns out she wasn't...). I largely agree with your analysis of Malata's purpose, I also think it continues to set up that there is going to be an internecine struggle among Knights Radiant. Clearly most Skybreakers will be on the Parsh's side, and it looks like the Dustbringers will as well, if only because that's the best way to get back at humans. I am still largely confused as to why the spren would side with the people most influenced by Odium, but we'll have to learn more about that.

Glad I stumbled across this explanation...I was seriously thinking the entire site had been attacked by...Ooklas...which were...Well I was just confused.

The Fused taking over a Parsh is VERY different than the Parsh assuming a form through a spren bond. Cognitive Shadow =/= Spren, exactly, though there is some overlap.

[OB] Who cried? (It's okay to cry. Admit it. You cried.)
bo.montier replied to Duke of Lizards's topic in Stormlight Archive
This was the closest I came too. This combined with Dalinar's flashbacks about Evi's death. Good lord those hit me. For some reason, no tears, and I'm normally a cryer. I bawled during each of the three ends of Wheel of Time, so I know Sanderson can do it to me. -
I'd challenge you here, because Dalinar seems to have started bonding the SF prior to giving up his blade, as evidenced by 1) the visions and 2) when he blonded the blade brought with Taln at the end of WoR he felt uncomfortable, it felt wrong A lot of people have theorized that the blade feeling wrong has to do with him beginning to be connected to the SF.

I still have a ton of this thread to read, but I wanted to weigh in on the brokenness idea. While I don't know if it carries over, people on Scadrial can snap from a good beating. Maybe we shouldn't be so hung up on emotional breaking. It could just be the main characters that have such significant emotional trauma. Lopen could have "broken" when he lost his arm. It could ALSO be that squires don't have to go through the same trauma as their KR. It could ALSO be that people who hold a dead Blade can go through yet another different process, that doesn't require the same type of breaking...

Do you have any reason to believe that humans can become spren? I'm interested in your theory, but you haven't given much to go on. We haven't seen any other humans become spren, though Honor did impress a cognitive shadow on the Stormfather, so maybe there's something there. I don't see it, at this point, though.

Just to add my guess, I think it will be something along the lines of "I will protect those I can, and let go of those I cannot" I can't imagine anything else being so hard for Kaladin to say.

[OB] Argent's "Secret Renarin WoB", a.k.a. The Page™

I somehow missed the fifth heightening giving agelessness. That would answer most of my concerns about Azure using breath. Thank you! -

I was primarily thinking about how breaths would be lost over time (I am assuming her extended life-span saps her breaths somehow, but I don't know where I got that assumption since she isn't returned). I forgot she was relatively new to Roshar, which definitely changes things. -

@IndigoAjah & @Yata Well, then. Point taken. -

Under the circumstances, I think she wasn't going to get it back, but yeah, for sure. I just looked at the scenario, Fused flying in, battle about to go down...I don't think she would get it back. Which makes me think she's using Stormlight. But who knows? -

I don't know why we would assume this, just because Vasher can't yet use stormlight, doesn't mean Azure hasn't figured it out. I'd call it an open question, rather than coming down on one side or the other. If she's using breath...Well it's a much more finite resource than stormlight.
