  1. Granted. Anything you touch becomes gold, unless you touch gold, which then becomes electrium. I would like to know the question of life, the universe, and everything.
  2. Granted, but they won't be happy that you're still alive. I wish I felt better. I feel flu-ish
  3. I don't think the "Skybelt" is really a constellation, but rather the disk of the Cosmere Galaxy. You can see the same thing on earth. As long as you are able to see the stars, you will see the disk make its way across the sky during every 24-hour rotations. As the sun sets, the disk rises and as the disk sets, the sun rises. Unless your orbit isn't flat, that is.
  4. Granted, but everyone you know will suddenly receive the impression that you've passed away and no matter how many times you prove to them that you are still alive, they will soon after forget any interactions with you since the "terrible accident" I wish that I would randomly swap usernames with another forum member and that they would have no clue that their name wasn't originally martyrboy.
  5. Granted, but you will now grow miniature talking awakened, spiked, Radiant cactuses in place of your fingernails. I wish I was a full mistborn and feruchemist.
  6. Granted, but you will never understand the absurdity of this request. I wish my life was never too easy or too hard.
  7. We are all sticks!
  8. So, if a Knight Radiant were walking along and cut himself, then breathed in stormlight, the stormlight would immediately recognize that the cut does not fit with the knight's perception of himself and begin to heal the cut. So here's my example: A knight radiant is charging along in battle with his comrades when they are attacked from behind. The group breaks rank and swivels about to face the ambush, but the knight radiant aforementioned is too slow and is thrown to the ground by one of the enemy monsters. One arm is pinned under the creatures foot and the other hand is caught under a rock. Unable to summon his shardblade and unable to use surgebinding because he is a Edgedancer and not even resurrecting a dead boy will save him, the knight watches helplessly as the monster lifts its massive club to mash in his forehead. Except... he doesn't watch helplessly! He has a hidden power! He immediately convinces himself that he has a third arm sprouting out of his chest, only he lost this arm during the battle. It was very painful. The stormlight immediately sympathizes and helps him by healing his third arm which miraculously appears out of his chest, summons a shardblade, and slays the monster. He then is made fun of by his peers because he is deformed and amputation doesn't help at all. Eh? Plausible?

The Steel Alphabet is a real alphabet. For example, copper makes the d sound in don't; Pewter is the neutral vowel, in this case the o; and Lerasium is the a in panic. Check the coppermind for details. Also, the words inside of the book are not random either.

    Atium

But... But... "At" is Astatine, which is element 85...
  11. Note 1: The world seems to be closely related to Scadrial. Blood and metal are very important. Note 2: They specifically call the old world "the Homeland". Remind you of any certain kandra? Note 3: An "Evil" attacked the homeland, very similiar to how the Deepness ravaged the kingdoms of Scadrial. Note 4: Gunpowder had attention brought to it. Before the defeat of the deepness, gunpowder was just being developed. Note 5: Threnody has the same Skybelt as Scadrial does Grand Assumption: "Threnody" is a southern continent on Scadrial.
  12. But you'd be so much happier as a fire!

  14. My Smedry tangent would be falling to see autocorrect misstated.
  15. Deaders are always risking their lives when they use Allomancy. I wanna be a Deader!
  16. I apologize for my ignorance, but who is Peter?
  17. As Brandon Sanderson's various societies keep growing, I wonder to myself what will happen when one of them finally reaches the point of space travel. One society is going to get there first and everything is going to change. It will be inevitable that the most advanced race will try to conquer the galaxy and lord over all of the other planets. This would mean the end of the Cosmere as we know it. I'm both terrified and excited by this. The world hoppers are already very disruptive to the flow of the different worlds, causing unexpected turns in their technological evolution and effecting the falls and rises of many different empires, nations, and organizations. Imagine what would happen if a giant space cruiser from Roshar landed on Sel and was all like "Submit or Die" then proceeded to decimate huge areas of populated land from space to prove their authority. Would the Shards all start battling one another? Would the magic systems have strange effects on the other magic systems? What would happen if the people of different worlds started interbreeding? SprenDor anyone? Is this what Hoid is doing? Making sure that the worlds never clash in battle? There are many different theories as to what the "17th Shard" is and does, but I put forth the theory that perhaps it is trying to protect the Cosmere from the folly of the shards. The shards are all acting like little two-year-olds squabbling over who can make the coolest planet and are going to end up causing the collapse of the system. The end of the Cosmere Superseries is going to be very interesting.
  18. I like your post about Reen :)

Thank you :) I just felt like it was a topic that hadn't been discussed on the forum and wanted to put it out there for discussion

  19. Yes. That is my thread over there. But this is my polished and revised version. I was not aware that there was a Cosmere Theories section until just recently, so when I rewrote the whole thing for clarity, I posted it here as well. But essentially, I'm just karma whoring, as we would call it on reddit.
  20. Note that I have already posted this thread a while back in the Mistborn sub forum. This is the simplified, revised version after much discussion there. I believe that the allomantic properties of Aluminum can be used for both defense and attack, despite everyone's convictions that it is one of the most useless metals ever. Defense: In terms of defense, I do believe that an allomancer burning Alluminum at the very moment that a sword or spear or some weapon pierced their skin, could in theory dissipate the metal, since the weapon should techincally be counted as a reserve as soon as it touched their blood. Of course, this would be nearly impossible without Atium. If the sword was burned away too late, you would be left with a gaping wound now bleeding freely. If you burned the Aluminum too early or did not detect the sword as a reserve before burning, you would be left without aluminum and a sword or weapon still microseconds from ending your miserable existence. With atium, however, a mistborn could possibly get the timing just right and be left with no more than a pin prick in their skin and a unarmed and very confused opponent. Of course, this also brings up the question of reserves. Brandon Sanderson clearly states that any metal anywhere in your body can be a reserve, but it is apparent that only metals in your stomach are immediately seen by the mind. Perhaps an allomancer with a strong enough mind could sense the metal reserves in their extremities, and perhaps even in their blood. Too burn most of the naturally occurring metals in your body would be fatal though. This problem is still unresolved by the community and may prove to be the downfall of this theory. Attack: Unlike defense, there is little to back up my theoretical offensive use for aluminum. It is based on one single possibility: An aluminum savant might be able to dissipate metal just barely outside of the body. If this is the case, an allomancer could pierce through soldier armor and into their skin using a non-metalic knuckleduster, because the allomancer could dissipate the metal of the armor just at the moment that the knuckleduster was touching the armor. This would leave a hole in the armor and shallow knives embedded in the skin. For all it's worth, Aluminum would never be as useful as other allomantic metals in the world of the metallic arts. HOWEVER! It is confirmed that aluminum does not necessarily dissipate metal itself, but rather the investiture within. Non allomantic metals do not dissipate because they are not invested. What this means is that aluminum can be used to nullify certain other cosmere magic investitures that are bound to the allomancer. To name a few: - AonDor - BloodSealing - Forgery - Surgebinding It may also be possible to use aluminum to more easily resist the following invested objects: - Awakened Objects - Forger's Seals - Shardblades (Perhaps*) Also, it might be possible to destroy the following by aluminum: - Hemalurgic Spikes - Metal Minds (If other non-allomantic metals of metal minds existed) - Shardplates - Shardblades * This depends on the rate at which aluminum burns. It seems to be instant, but this is not confirmed. If it is very fast but not instant, it may be possible for an allomancer burning aluminum to resist or lessen the effect of the shard blade on the soul. If this is all the case, Hoid just became at least 8% more invincible, give or take 3%. Thanks for reading!
