[OB] Adolin-Shallan-Kaladin Discussion
TheWarriorPoet replied to Harbour's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hi, Just why is it disgusting? Just for once forget that Shallan is a Radiant and Jashnah is a princess. Let's see this as "Your brother's betrothal is eyeing someone else, would you not tell her the same thing?" I guess it can be expected from any sister. As for Kholin's wanting to keep the radiants in the family, well they already have 3 including the Bondsmith, they really don't need shallan to make their family powerful, in current roshar they are power. At this point Roshar have 2 factions one is lead by ODIUM and other is led by DALINAR, he at present is bigger power then any radiant or even Herald for that matter. Maybe, just maybe we are reading too much between the lines while it is just a simple thing. Kaladin's character is made for bigger things, maybe he is too important to be in such petty feuds -
I think Oathact was not just about keeping fused trapped in damnation, it was more then that. Since it is clear that Odium is still bound by the pact, it is not about new oathpact, specially when original is still binding. I thing the key to defeat Odium lies in the pact.

I think this gap will be more like a gap between 2 desolations, because someone like Odium will not sit idle for 10-15 years just because a puny human is opposing him. It looks less likely, and then since Dalinar had defied him, Odium at this point have no other character who is fit to be his champion except Moash. Its good to expect everyone turning good at the end but eventually we need some bad guys too. Unless Odium somehow convince HOID to be his champion, in which case the desolation would be a much better choice

While i would love Moash to become a positive character once again, i don't think he is the right fit to take Lead place in honorpact, specially when he himself had broke his Oath to Bridge four and then with Humans. I am more inclined to the idea of Moash becoming Odium's champion in the fight against humans.

[OB] Dalinar should wield Nightblood
TheWarriorPoet replied to Watchcry's topic in Stormlight Archive
Just read this, it gives an interesting information about Vasher being able to awaken bodies of dead lighteyes who have been soulcasted as metal statues since last desolation 4500 years ago, it will give humans a definite edge over voidbringers and if the awakened bodies somehow retained their powers from before they died , Odium will really curse himself for coming on rosher before destroying Nalthis -
[OB] Dalinar should wield Nightblood
TheWarriorPoet replied to Watchcry's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Vasher is technically more powerful then heralds, he is immortal (kind of) can have weapons like honorblades (night blood) and then, he can probably create humans version of thunderclasps too, he is known to be the only person with the ability to create an army made from Stone casted bodies. -
[OB] Dalinar should wield Nightblood
TheWarriorPoet replied to Watchcry's topic in Stormlight Archive
Technically, we don't know the circumstances behind Zahel becoming ardent. Maybe just like shen he never became an ardent officially, he just started living amongst them. Then he somehow have the ability to manipulate his appearance as well, it was shown in warbreaker. I think i will feel more secure when nightblood will be in hands of someone who knows the weapon. It will also be interesting to know how Naln came in possession of the weapon, is it possible that Vasher is in the same league as heralds or more powerful -
[OB] Adolin-Shallan-Kaladin Discussion
TheWarriorPoet replied to Harbour's topic in Stormlight Archive
On second thoughts, you are right the relationship shouldn't be romantic. Specially when the girl involved is literally your sword -
Just why someone would want to get in a romantic relationship with his sword (or spear) i mean what if there is an argument and she is not talking to him, will she still have to come when he summons her?? I guess yes, but then it will ruin the romantic theory completely, won't it?

I am hoping the final battle to be between 2 individuals, HOID and Adonalisium. Brandon said that someone was opposing Adonalisium and that thing is still around, i guess except 16 original vessels only HOID was the one who is still around. But then HOID is a character who can be anyone

[OB] Adolin-Shallan-Kaladin Discussion
TheWarriorPoet replied to Harbour's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hope you are right, for a KR specially the ones who are saviors of current era SA she is too twisted, if i was Odium i could've found ways to use her in my schemes. Maybe you are right, but i think its more ethical the racial since cryptics are fueled by lies and honorspren are fueled by honorable deeds. Does anyone hinted that it is possible for a spren to marry humans, because then kal will be in safe hands. -
Hmm, ok. I thought we will see grand finale on Yolen as it is where the cosmere begun. But even if its on Scadrial the thought remains same, the elite group which enjoys immortality will team up with original 17th shard Hoid (hopefully) and restore adonalisium or whatever it is.

[OB] Adolin-Shallan-Kaladin Discussion
TheWarriorPoet replied to Harbour's topic in Stormlight Archive
Maybe you are right. But as a fan (of Kaladin) i really don't want him to end up with something like shallan. Kaladin, while broken inside is trying to find ways to live, he sticks on to smallest hopes and then do something grand, people say he is hiding but i don't see where he hid, he always shone bright. On the other hand, Shallan creates a new personality everytime she faces a new problem, at this rate she will soon end up with enough personalities that she can be intimate with every KR, there is something very wrong inside the thing she is carrying on his shoulders. Then there sprens are a different thing altogether, whatever i read, i think that cryptics and Honorspren don't bond well and usually avoid each other, so if Shalladin happens, well i just hope it never comes to that. Maybe Brandon will be kind enough to let Odium have shallan instead of Kal getting romantic with shallan -

You may be right but i don't think it was forced, at-least the way it was worded in the book doesn't look forced. But then way of hearts are more complicated then way or kings -
theory [OB] Adolin and Shallan will not last
TheWarriorPoet replied to MonsterMetroid's topic in Stormlight Archive
Agree with you here, i don't think brandon is against this. We have seen this in OB already, two heralds Taln and Ash are clearly in a relationship so if two heralds can be in a relationship then why not 2 KR's. -
[OB] Adolin-Shallan-Kaladin Discussion
TheWarriorPoet replied to Harbour's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hi, Since this post is mainly based on Adolin-Shallan-Kaladin, and question here is who will get the girl. Kaladin in OB had said "I don't think i loved her, Syl. I felt .... something. A lightening of my burden when i was near her. She reminds me of someone." After that the story indicates he was talking about Tien, his brother. So in my opinion Kal and Shallan will at most share a close friend or brother-sister bond and not a romantic one. So this should solve the problem of a love triangle between these three. As for adolin's future with shallan, i think it is shown to hasten the process of Adolin becoming a KR since his wedding with shallan will speed up things just like it did for bridge four. TWP -

I don't think they will enjoy immortality, because by the end of book 10 the struggle on Rosher would be over and only 1 Shard would remain like in Mistborn. What i think that at the end of stormlight series, we will see all the major characters from cosmere move to dragonsteel where the grand climax of the Cosmere would be written, i suspect it will be Hoid on one side and Odium or remaining shards on other side, with HOID probably being the good guy. Then these super powerful humans will clash and it will be a epic grand finale

Hi, Since i finished Oathbringer around a month ago, i am thinking about death of Herald King Jezrien. It was not related to main storyline, and so far heralds other then Naln had any major viewpoint in the series, then why was Jezrien killed. 1. To tell us that Odium gave Fused the weapons to kill heralds who are otherwise Immortal, and other heralds can be killed using same weapon. 2. Is it possible that the first Knights in stormlight series i.e. Kaladin, Shallan, Daliner etc will be new heralds at the end of the series? Earlier in the book when Daliner touched the power, i thought he will take place of honor, but it looks unlikely, so will we be seeing new heralds bound by the Oathpact at the end of first part of stormlight series?

So this is being discussed for ages and we still don't know the answer I read the design which is mentioned in the thread but then it's for a bridge which is approx 5 meters wide, but with that calculation it can hardly be more then 50 feet long, which again brings the same question, how to span 50 feet+ chasms

Hi Guys, I dunno if this question had been asked before or if it was explained in the book which i missed somehow. My question is How do they push the Bridge across a 50-100 feet wide chasm? they don't have any support on other side of the chasm, they push only from one, so a bridge which is heavy enough that it takes minimum 25 men to lift it, wont it fall down the chasm once its halfway through the gap? Or since there is no one on the other side, won't it be easier for parshendi to just push it down the chasm once it is near their side? TWP

Probably HOID shattered Adonalsium. In Mistborn there is a strong emphasis on Actions and Consequences, so maybe HOID was very powerful at that time and he decided to shatter Adonalsium and succeeded but that drained his powers and made him weak. I believe that that the cosmere is nothing more then HOID v Adonalsium.
-
Not sure, but as per my conclusion after reading some coppermind topics and brandon interviews he is also a superpower like Adonalsium Before Adonalsium shattered, was it consciously opposed by something, be it people or another cosmic force? Is whatever opposed it still around? BRANDON SANDERSON Yes. Yes. That thing can only be HOID as HOID doesn't fits in the criteria of being called human for many reasons like :- How old is Hoid? How long did it take to become that old? BRANDON SANDERSONHa. Let's just say that he's far older than a human should be able to get. How old is Hoid? Or better yet (to avoid any trickiness), how many years has he lived through? BRANDON SANDERSONHe's been alive since Dragonsteel. However, he may not have spent all of that time awake and alert. so maybe Adonalsium is the actual evil and HOID is on the side of good who is hunting adonalsium because it was behind the collapse of HOID's world. Or like The Thor Movie Adonalsium is the good guy who destroyed the dark world of HOID which in turn shattered Adonalsium and sent HOID in deep sleep and now after waking up HOID is taking revenge by destroying Adonalsium's world? Wait does that make any sense? Maybe i should stop hanging out with HOID
