  1. Rhandric, I agree regarding eye color.  I am guessing Kaladin's blade being a "live spren" has characteristics of the honor blade (eyes turn colors when used) and "dead spren" (eventually eyes turn color permanently).  IIRC it take Moash a week and we should be around that now but maybe it goes faster when someone like Moash spends the week focusing on bonding the blade.  I betting Kaladin's will be permanently blue over time.

  2. Total speculation.

I had previously wondered how Roshone would respond (assuming they met in Hearthstone) when Kaladin had blue eyes and the uniform of a Cobalt guard. So I think it interesting that BWS mentions that Kaladin has neither.

But since I had previously let my brain wander here, it is very likely I am over interpreting.

As Kurkistan points out, Kaladin still has his shard blade

  3. Thank you WeiryWriter!

So Kaladin will show up to a city where the citylord hates him, wearing slave brands, not having his Cobalt guard uniform, having dark eyes, no stormlgiht, but a treasure in gems. I am guessing he will look like a deserter and not be received particularly well.

  4. I wonder if "the purple" is made from grapes (~15% ABV) and the others are made from other fruits.

And into the list of alcoholic beverages must go Zahel's drink, hard honu, "a type of lavis grain liquor" (WoR chap 81).  I am assuming that this is what happens when instead of making lavis beer or ale, you distill it into a kind of lavis whiskey.

  5. Great discussion.  In fact, so great I registered for an account and this is my first post.

I am guessing the rules governing dahn or nahn are like the rules that have govern heretical stations throughout history:  rules are rules unless you have a lot of money or your own army in which case rules are suggestions.

One potential theory would be that all levels of dahn or nahn are stable but position can increase the rank.  With this idea, Shallan's father is fifth dahn like her but being a lord increases his dahn by one.  All of his children are fifth dahn but upon his death, Balat should have moved to fourth dahn ("should have," because they kept his death a secret).  Renarin is 2nd dahn, but had Sadeas plan in WoK worked, he would have moved to 1st dahn.

Tenner is reserved for those whose eyes are light but 1) their parents were tenner, 2) they were stripped of rank (like Dalinar wanted to do Roshone), or 3) they are disinherited (Balat predicted he would be tenner when he fled the estate).

Not sure I believe the theory but thought I would throw it out.
