Just shotgunning ideas out, but maybe the fetch quest already started. There is someone that has appeared in every world, has mysterious goals and powers, would likely have knowledge of such a weapon, and the time to search for pieces of the weapon. Let's face it, someone had to put a Hoid theory in here. It was either that or say he was the weapon, and while I don't buy either it's worth considering.

I'd just assume he loaned Leras or Ati a couple of bucks way back when and they let the interest pile WAAAAY up.

I'm probably overthinking things but my guess would be that the lost metal is Lerasium. Mostly I'm relying on the reference to Atium by that name being a misdirect, and the idea that Lerasium would be an even bigger game changer since it can make anyone a full blown Mistborn, something unseen in centuries. And I don't believe we've gotten WoB on Lerasium, plus it'd arguably fit the title better as not just being lost physically, but likely lost to history. But again, I'm probably overthinking it.

I'd say I'm 50% Kaladin, 20% Elend, 10% Vin, 5% Lopen, and 15% unknown substances.

My favorite is easily Kaladin. The main reason is that his weaknesses are the most relatable to me on a personal level, apathy, near-depression, contemplating suicide, and struggling with his own morals. This is a large part of why actually liked, no, LOVED his story-line in WoR. After his against all odds victory in WoK he doesn't instantly get over his myriad issues, like he said in WoK, "Despair was a luxury" (Page 744 Hardback) at the time he couldn't afford that but with his newfound freedom he got more problems and more room to contemplate perceived wrongs. I'm not defending his actions, but it was as real as a character has felt to me and he came out all the stronger for overcoming (some) of his (many) flaws. And I have no doubt that Mr. Sanderson will continue to put him through the wringer until he runs out of flaws to poke... or kills him, which would be pretty darn hard.
