Battles awaiting in Stones Unhallowed (BEWARE SPOILERS)
Zea mays replied to Twenty@20's topic in Stormlight Archive
I want to see Taln versus... Anybody, really (or anything). Give that guy a blade already and lets see what he can do! -
It's a really cute idea, but wouldn't Kal become wretchedly sick upon touching Nightblood? How would he get over that? On the other hand, Ilike to imagine that when Kaladin does next encounter the awakened-blade weilding Shin, Nightblood notices that Syl is both a sword and a girl and falls desperately in love.

Granted. you have the power to read minds. You can not turn the power off. I wish I had a Siberian Husky puppy. -
Do you ever feel the need to re-draw and re work you stick figure again and again and again and again and yet again in a incessant, insane, time-eating obsession to get them just right? (6 year-old and fully grown critics be damned) Or is that just me?

Renarin rushes headlong into the middle of a dangerous fight and... Doesn't really help much. *ducks* Er... Shallan makes a quick trip to shadesmar.

I listenned to the end of WoR again today, and came up with a convoluted explanation. When describing Szeth's honor blade Syl, said that weilding it takes much more stormlight than spern-bond surgebinding. Dangerous amounts of stormlight. Why would too much stormlight be dangerous? Is there only a limited quantity that a human mind can handle? If too much is "processed" does a person lose control of what it might do to them? Is it not reasonable to guess that soulcasting fabrials, who are like honor blades in that they enable a form of non nahel-bond surgebinding, also require excessive use of stormlight? Dangerous amounts of stormlight.

Revenge of the Shin? Or is it, Revenge On the Shin? Meh, I hope he sticks with Stones Unhallowed.

Thank you. So it's like 'axe-hound'. Makes sense. The tranquiline halls were infested with dogs and hawks.

Stormlight Archive Book 3(+) Readings
Zea mays replied to Sabrina Stormshard's topic in Stormlight Archive
Kal is worried that the parshmen in Hearthstone became void bringer and rampaged during the everstorm. But void bringers come in several flavors. What about those whitespines the Roshones utterly failed to kill? Have they developed a taste for Alethies? A nice battle with epic monsters is sure to cheer Kaladin up and shake him out of his moping. -
This is not a 'typo' per se, maybe it's a "translation" thing that I notice when reading the book (probably me being far too pedantic): In Kaladin's POV's, Moash is consistently described as a 'hawk-faced man'. What's a hawk, precious? Is it some kind of chicken? Them again, I can't think of an economic way of describing such a physiognomy that does not reference birds of prey.

Granted. This repeating image is now stuck permanently in your head, crowding out all other thought. I wish I was a little bit taller. -

What happened/will happen to Eshonai
Zea mays replied to missionaryofgod's topic in Stormlight Archive
Don't have my book available right now (will look it up tonight), but I sort of remember one of the epigraph's saying "In the storm I awaken, falling, grieving" or something very similar. 10 skymarks that one is about Eshonai. Found it. Chapter 61 of Way of Kings: "In the storm I awaken, falling, spinning, grieving" -
Found this near the end of Wok chapter 63 "Fear": "The Azish man was practicing with the others. Kaladin had tried speaking to him about Hoid, but Siszil-- typically closemouthed-- hadn't wanted to discuss it". That' all.

Do they have any stormlight in Shinovar? The highstorms dissipate before they reach that far west. Also, In the Rysn interlude she notices there are no spren to be seen on the Shin plains. Seems like a tough place to become a radiant.

Stormlight Archive Book 3(+) Readings

My guess- I think he mentions the change of clothes to accentuate Kal's precarious predicament. He looks like a deserter. If he was wearing the specialized uniform of a lighteyed(!) officer of the Kholin Honor Guard, he would have some instant authority wherever he went in Alethkar. Maybe not real authrity, but more credibility. A deserter would not be able to steal a uniform like that. People might think twice about what he says, and be more open to accepting him as a leader. At least they would be less likely to assume he stole the spheres (and shardblade) he's carrying. As for continuity - he should have gone through several uniforms by now. Szeth ruined one coat when he first showed up, and then there's the chasm trek. Being drenched in Chasm-fiend saliva just can't be good for the fabric. -
Thank you kindly, good sir! And Odium will try to recruit Kal to the dark side by offering him cookies.

Months ago, I had made a "stick figure" avvie of Kaladin a la Rich Burlew's Order of the Stick (based on the cover for WoR, 'course) Since I had a Kal figure I had to make this scene too (minor woR spoiler, I guess) Anyways, I looked at the little guy again, and though to myself, how hard could it be to transform it into a more realistically proportioned and detailed version? The problem with thoughts like that is that they lead to ridiculous time consuming projects. (please click to embiggen) I'm too lazy to bother with a real background. Maybe sometime in the future.

That's a boon? Sounds more like curse to me. Granted anyways: you can now hear spelling errors. Everyone you will ever interact with comes down with a terminal case of lolspeak. I wish to become an early-rising energetic morning person. -
One more: Aesudan and Elhokar have a toddler, meantioned in WoK, in the hunt chapter. We don't know his name and exact age yet. But hey, he's a Kholin! With those genes he might even bond a spren before he learns to walk and talk.

Has Nalan been using Szeth from the start?
Zea mays replied to sun tzaro's topic in Stormlight Archive
Page 945 of my copy of WoR, epigraph for chapter 78: A but they were left behind it is obvious from the nature of the bond but where where where Set off obvious realization like a pricity [?] They are with the Shin We must find one Can we make to use a Truthless Can we craft weapon From tge Diagram, Floorboard 17:paragraph 2. every second letter starting with the first. ~~~~ This implies ol' Vargo was always to blame for Szeth's travails. But who sez Nalan wasn't involved? He's been watching it all for quite a while. What did he do that his friend regrets? Sell Szeth to the Parshendi maybe? -
Welcome! I believe you are quite right there. I half recall some snippet from Jasnah that says 9 of the Oathgates are "locked". The Kholinar one will probably be the first one our intrepid heroes try to open. Also, you may wanna edit your post there to add a g .

I always understood Kal's victory as psychological: he successfully undermined Szeth's will to fight. All he had to do was open Szeth''s eyes to reality: radiants are back, he was never truthless, he never had to commit those murders. He has no reason to murder Dalinar now, and he was only fighting Kal to get to Dalinar. He despairs and dies. A question that arises from the discussion of the onset of Kaladin's powers: why has Darkness never come after him? Don't tell me he never committed any crime. He was stealing from corpses to pay for safety bribes way back in Amaram's army. Later, there are all the times he attempted theft Of himself and others who were legally someone else's property. How would Nalan know about this? How did he know about Lift and Ym? So, how come he never came after Kaladin (thief) Stormblessed, Shallan (double homicide) Davar or Jasnah (vigilante street vengeance) Kholin?
