  1. If Prof proves anything, it's that willpower doesn't work in staving off the corruption. Not in the long run, anyway. He made it look like it did, partly because he held out for so long, but I think he would've wound up sliding into full corruption even without Regalia's ploy.
  2. He's nowhere near as bad as Lucentia, that's for sure. I only called him Captain First World Problems because his picture is a shot of Weird Al in his "First World Problems" music video.
  3. I was going to ask you. Anyway, so here's the idea I'm working off of so far. He's a Newcago transplant, where he was a mechanic, but he left when the tyranny got to be too much. He went with a group of other ex-Newcagoans and made his way to Oregon, where he settled in Corvallis. I don't know if this part will work or not, but I was thinking he works for an Epic who doesn't like the way everyone is so cheery and happy all the time. This Epic's favorite pastime is complaining, and he looks like this: This Newcago transplant rarely visits Euphoria, as this Epic finds other ways of keeping his slaves in line. Captain First World Problems routinely complains to this Newcago transplant, and the transplant snarks back. CFWP occasionally remarks that "much more of that and I'll take you to Euphoria," but he never does, because he secretly enjoys the snarking. His slaves don't rebel, so he doesn't feel the need to bring them to Euphoria. The transplant is working to bring down Rainmaker and the other Queens because he vehemently disagrees with the way she keeps control over the populace—i.e., by turning them all into drug addicts. One of the few things he misses about Newcago is that slaves were at least allowed to be miserable when they wanted to, so this transplant is essentially working to give people their God-given right to misery. Also, if none of what I just wrote contradicts Corvallis' canon, I think his character icon will be this picture right here:
  4. This is also my plan for being dragged before an Epic despot.
  5. Direct them to General Zoi's Pony Creator and tell them to turn their Mary Sues OCs into ponies. If they say you're being unfair, tell them "Takes one to know one" and crab-walk out of the room.
  6. Thanks to the power of peer pressure and that picture, I am now three-quarters tempted. Come up with a powerset for that Epic and the temptation of Twi will be complete.
  7. I am now halfway tempted to add a second underground rebellion leader, a Newcago transplant who sings "First World Problems" to themselves whenever they hear people complaining about the happiness being gone.
  8. All now in favor of forcing the Financier and Bioterror to work together, raise your hand.
  9. She told the story to Lightwards a few pages back. I'm on my phone so I can't post a link at the moment. :/
  10. There's also the fact that Lucentia knows the weaknesses of all the Epics in her service, and I think she also replaced the Metal's skeleton with her diamond so she controls him that way. While it's not the best way of keeping Epics loyal, breaking that hold would likely require access to Lucentia's weakness, and most likely Bloody Mary's as well.
  11. I suspected that was Prof's Rending. And I thought I recalled Regalia saying something to that effect.
  12. It's a bit difficult to maintain the respect of a godlike dictator when you develop a phobia of glitter. Fortuity to Lucentia:
  13. Oh, come on. Fortuity finds writing dirty limericks to be an excellent stress-relief technique.
  14. That the Rending only became a thing later on does make sense, but it doesn't explain how Prof and Regalia—two Epics who may not have had Rendings—were corrupted anyway. It's certainly plausible that it only happened to later Epics, since Prof says he got his powers earlier than most and Dawnslight appeared around the same time as Calamity; but there has to be another explanation as to why Prof and Regalia were corrupted but Dawnslight wasn't.
  15. By the way, Edge, I think I found a suitable icon for Lucentia. Edit: For the Financier, not likely. He's used to getting out of the way of that sort of thing. Bioterror needs to be careful, though. And do those look like the eyes of a liar? I….I'm not sure. I'm laughing too hard.
  16. "Away? Ah, that is a shame. I'm looking for somewhere to settle in, somewhere that can make use of my... talents." His eyes changed to a pleasant shade of blue, the color of the Financier's favorite tie. How did he know about that? Or does he? Some people just like colors that happen to be the same as your ties; his eyes prove nothing. Then again, they might prove something…. "I don't suppose you could show me to whoever is ruling in her stead? I've already had to reduce the population of one town down to 0, I'd hate to have to do something like that again just to get myself noticed." Down to zero. Zero. 0. The Financier looked into the strange man's pale, pale eyes. His powers were useless when it came to discerning truth from falsehood, but he saw no lies there. No evidence of the One's influence. Just the eyes of a man who had brought an entire town's population down to zero, providing one less hiding place for the One. Questions brimmed in his mind. Which town was it? Is it nearby? Were their bodies found? Why did you reduce the population so? Do you know of Savior Zero? But now was not the time. This stranger had asked for the one ruling in Lucentia's stead, and the least he could do was grant his request. The equation was still in his head. He'd pushed it to the back of his mind, so as not to bring it out if it wasn't needed, but he brought it to the front. One zucchini, times 40,000. He tossed the zucchini into the air. Ordinarily, he wouldn't risk damaging an image of the Prophet, but this was no ordinary moment. The Metal had to see what he saw, and the only way to show him was to summon him. While still in the air, the zucchini multiplied. There were two zucchinis—then four—then eight—then sixteen—then too many to count. The original zucchini was soon lost in a pile that grew and grew, spreading up and out. The Financier backed away so as not to be overcome. "There!" he cried with a laugh as the vegetables piled over one another, hollow thunks turning to a small roar. "The Metal should be here in a moment. You'll have your wish."
  17. Sorry. Evil teacher. Unclear assignment. Condescension when I asked questions. Small panic attack when I submitted it. You know the drill. Zucchinis coming up. I didn't intend it to be a big deal, more just an Easter egg.
  18. Oh, I forgot to mention earlier: I had a dream that Obliteration was a wizard in the Potterverse. There's this Apple game where you can "duel" with other fans by drawing patterns that correspond to spells, and Obliteration's "Obliterate" spell was an intricate line drawing of a surprised cat head. Warner Bros. released it as a limited-edition charm for charm bracelets, and I think Ron may have cast the spell by mistake. Also, Edge, if the Big Al thing is too odd, I can take it out.
  19. He doesn't have the reputation; it's his powers she's heard about. As minor Epic powers go, they're pretty odd, so I don't think it's too much of a stretch for some Portland Epic to tell some Vancouver Epic that "hey, did you know there's a guy who always has a sandwich in his pocket?" and for the Vancouver Epic to say "That's the most worthless thing I've ever heard" and drop it into a lecture.
  20. And now, a PSA from Idris.
  21. Quotes for extreme accuracy.
  22. You know why I want to see Sanderson write a few MLP episodes? Two words: Draconequus society. We learn from Discord's first episode that he isn't unique when Cheerilee calls his statue "a Draconequus." Not THE draconequus, but A draconequus. Meaning there may be more like him out there. Where did they come from? Why have none been seen in Equestria for centuries? Is Discord the only absurdly powerful member of his species, and if so, why? Brandon Sanderson needs to answer these questions.
