  1. You can tell Iconoclast o stop being so greedy. If he wants total destruction and devastation, he can work for it like everyone else. Tell him it builds character.
  2. Hey, it's hard to stick to the world's mythos when only one book in the series is out. Oh dear.
  3. Probably. She'd take it better than Fortuity did, though. (I haven't written any more in a while, since I decided to take a break to worldbuild. But I think I've decided that I'll put Susan in a more Professor X-type role, while the main narrator will be a younger, more action-driven teen or young woman. I think she'll be an illusionist. Anyway, Susan's motivations will drive much of the story, while as-yet-unnamed-illusionist will fill a more action-oriented role.)
  4. I'm still trying to figure how Susan Gillespie, ultra-logical ethicist of the 1940s, would react to Doctor Funtimes. I don't think she'd take it well.
  5. You can go first if you want. Well….what are their opinions of gigantic piles of zucchinis? These are characterization questions you never knew you'd need to answer.
  6. The "angels" are serial killers. The "demons" want to prevent more deaths. The terms ought to be reversed. You cannot make the argument that the people who want to keep Fortuity and Regalia off the streets are the bad guys.
  7. So? They're driven by fear to murder and worse. It doesn't matter if they think they're the good guys. They are a danger to themselves and others, and they NEED help.
  8. I got that, but I couldn't quite follow where you were going with yours.
  9. Um.... No offense, but would you mind clarifying your thoughts before I respond to them? I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at here.
  10. I'd disagree with the philosophy of that statement. The Reckonersverse is not divided into "laymen" and "important people;" at any rate, adopting those terms is a bit of a false statement because the "important people" are all cursed. Almost literally. Making it about how the "laymen help the important people" sort of cheapens what David's eventual goal will be: helping the powerful and cursed overcome their own inner demons to keep others from coming to harm. Additionally, I'd argue that both Epics and normals should be classified as important because it's the normals who are even capable of seeing that Epics need to change. They're going to need each other, and categorizing them diminishes how the heroes will be helped along.
  11. I now really want to see how Once Upon a Time's heart-blackening magic would interact with the Reckonersverse.

And now she and David are goin' for a ride.

(I don't like to toot my own horn, but I've listened to that song a few dozen times now with Regalia in mind and IT WON'T STOP FITTING HER.)

Having read the lyrics, I have to agree.

      Shameless plug time!

  12. Shipping another character with Lucentia is a punishment that should be reserved for the absolute worst. Does she deserve it? I think she does. And I'd love to see how Firefight changes when David discovers that Regalia is not a sickly cancer patient, but a panda! A…accidentally?
  13. I WILL NOT HAVE THAT SELF-RIGHTEOUS CHILDISH HARPY WITHIN TEN MILES OF THIS RP ….er, sorry. Gut reaction.
  14. My idea for a PI was Felix Felicis--this Epic is extremely lucky. Try to shoot them, and they'll duck just as the bullet zips past, then stand up holding a winning lottery ticket. Might be a bit OP, but it'd be fun.
  15. If you want to do what I did, go with an opposite. Nathan is David's opposite, and Funtimes is Fortuity's opposite. And then add powers.
  16. It's in Molalla. Which makes me wonder what happened there.
  17. It's a general librarian job--circulation, programming, that sort of thing. I'll also apply for some similar positions in North Dakota and Oregon.Edit: Wow, Kobold. That certainly makes my cameo, where Jade walks down the street and stops to pet the librarian's pugs while they're out on a walk, pale in comparison.
  18. "You zucchinied and here I am." I might start calling Alans zucchinis now.
  19. Never said you couldn't, as long as it's small and not Mary Sueish. (But I doubt I'll get the job, so that's a moot point. )
  20. I'll do my best. Fair warning: If I get the job, I will add a cameo for a librarian who loves pugs into the RP.
  21. You're all technically correct, since I'm sure there ARE library jobs in those places so...good guessing? I'm definitely applying for the Wasilla job, though. I kind of have to.
  22. You couldn't pay me to live there.
  23. I've been looking for library jobs, since I'm graduating soon. At the same time, I've been writing flashbacks for one of my RP characters, who grew up in Wasilla, Alaska. Guess where one of the jobs I found is.
