  1. I get that Dalinar is a highprince, but why is he Kal's superior? Kal has a responsibility to his spren and his oaths, not to Dalinar or to the Alethi. I like Dalinar and I hope he becomes THE leader of the KR, but he didnt refound the KR like he claims to want, he didnt really do anything for the KR. Shalan has been on the path to KR for 15 years (my guess at how long) and she found Urithiru and saved everyone. Shalan even tells Dalinar that he is not her leader. I cant see any of the KR accepting Dalinar as the leader, except his son (I dont think his son will for long). ... As for the honorblade, I think the existance of it will be significant because it is a harolds blade. Someone like Shalan, Jasnah or Navani would want to figure out who owned the blade and find them if they could. So far the blades have been myth and its existance could be used to prove a lot of things that no one has really believed.
  2. I dont know if this has been said or not. sorry if it has. Some of the death rattle don't appear to be from the "good guys" point of view. Chapter 8 - Victory, we stand atop the mount. We scatter them before us. Their homes become our dens. their lands are now our farms. and they shall burn as we once did on a place that is hollow and forlorned. --- That almost sounds like the future fall of Urithiru and the defeat of the Rosharins. Whoever is speaking calls his/her home a den. Another one-- They named it the Final Desolation, but they lied. Our gods lied. Oh, how they lied. The Everstorm comes. I hear its whispers, see its stormwall, know its heart. -- Our gods. Not our God.
  3. Chapter 3 WoK. "A man stood on a cliffside and watched his homeland fall into dust. The water surged beneath so far beneath and he heard a child crying, they were his own tears." My theory has been that Roshar is a lot of greatshells. We have the interlude about the Reshi islands being greatshells and the "land" of Roshar is increasing the number of islands, which you can see when comparing old maps with the newer ones. More greatshells are gathering. The land floats and takes the shape of a storm. -(I have a couple other posts on this thread about it) I would like to add the death rattle above to this theory. It sounds like the land began to move and destroy everything. It appears to acknowledge the water deep below as if the land was floating.
  4. In the prologue to WoK, Kalak sees red, orange and purple blood. Red is "human", orange is parshendi and purple is...? Who? Do we know who has purple blood?
  5. I think there is a WoB about this, but I cant find it. In WoK chapter one, Szeth sees two people talking to Elhokar (maybe Nalan and Kalak) and then looks into the beggers feast. He sees a potentially drunk man who slurs and asks Szeth if he had seen him, then Szeth immediately sees the statues of the Heralds starting with Jezrian. It seems like the begger is talking about the statues and refering to the statue of Jezrian, like it is him. Szeth passes him by thinking the begger was most likely drunk. Is there a WoB that says how many Heralds are in WoK or at the feast?
  6. This may already be out there, but I couldnt find anything on it so here is my thought. Stone Shamans are actually the KR order of Stonewards left alone for 4500 years. Talenel died and couldnt lead his order of KR. Maybe they never gave up on the day of Recreance. They were known for being dependable. And maybe that is why Nalan wants them dead.
  7. After reading masaru's and Argent's quote it made me think that God was shattered on purpose to "plant" seeds around the cosmere. Like a long term investment. The shard holders took the pieces to help their God spread to new worlds. I say this in part because even though a planet may be created by preservation and ruin there are still all of the other attributes there as well, like hate, honor, etc. Maybe Hoid is the cosmere gardener.
  8. I think you are right on this. I am afraid to learn why WRs need so many though. And the squires flying should be easy. All Kal is doing is lashing himself in the right direction. He can do that with anything. I look forward to seeing him practice that.
  9. I am going to say this theory again, with hope Peter will chime in again. We know from an interlude in WoR that some of the Reshi islands are greatshells. We can see in a modern day map of Roshar that there are more islands compared to the Silver Kingdom map and the Shadesmar map. Those new islands are part of the "spiral" part of Roshar. My theory is that all of the Roshar land is a greatshell or a group of great shells. And that land floats and forms into a storm pattern.
  10. Do we know if everyone feels the Thrill or just those with shards? It seems Sadeas gets worse after taking the blade. Maybe the unmade have more effect on shard holders who arent bonded.
  11. When Dalinar and Eshonai faught, what did Dalinar mean when he said he had been/seen this before? But from the other side? I dont have the exact quote.
  12. Hi there. Wanted to thank you all for the great fan site. I found you just before WoR. Thanks to you, I am now cosmere aware, which I wasn't after reading all of the BS books the first few times. Prior to finding you, I thought Hoid might be the name of the family dog and BS liked using it a lot.
  13. Where did Hoid say Ati was a nice guy? And didn't Sazed have a moment to decide if he wanted to pick the shards up, after he touched them. It seemed he could have looked to see what the power was and turned them down. Maybe it was a first come first served kinda thing and they had to pick one or not get one.
  14. That is my question. What void are the Voidbringers bringing? Through all of the desolations, I would assume it would have been brought by now. Any thoughts?
  15. At one point surgebinders existed before the KR were created. Someone created the order from those surgebinders (some think it was Nohadon) and the book WoK give lessons the KR use. It seems the ideals force the Spren and surgebinders into a "contract" that limit their behavior. In one of Dalinar's visions Nohadon mentions the surgebinders caused as much damage as the voidbringers. Someone/something forced the ideals on spren and those ideals create KR now. If the ideals existed since the beggining, then why are they used to create KR now and not at the start. I was trying to figure why they were imposed or who could impose them because they are imposed on some very big spren.
  16. I have been looking at the map of Roshar from the Silver Kingdom, the map of Shadesmar and the current map of Roshar. They are not the same. The map of the Silver Kingdom and Shadesmar match. The current Roshar map does not. There are many more islands in current Roshar. I speculated earlier that it had something to do with the living islands we saw in WoR. They seem to have almost blocked off the Reshi Sea.
  17. My question has to do with Nohadon and the book Way of Kings. Surges existed before the book. So spren bonded with humans. Did the ideals exist also before the book? How or why do the spren require the oaths? Since Nohadon wrote WoK, did he copy ideals already in place or force them on Surge Binders and spren?
  18. I posted this in a different thread earlier, but I wanted to add it to this conversation. ... I always thought it may have to do witht he KR surges. I don't think they all had plate. I think those that did had surges like cohesion or adhesion. Once it was mastered they could "build" the plate from some "material" ( I think they use it to bind lesser spren, like wind spren into plate.)
  19. There is a Larkin in crystal on Elhokar's desk and Sil seems curious about it. We saw in WoR that Larkin can take stormlight from someone. It seems odd the Larkin is in a crystal. Could that crystal be a gem or gemheart? And could gemhearts be a type of egg. Seems a lot like an egg on the desk.
  20. I always thought it may have to do with the KR surges. I don't think they all had plate. I think those that did had surges like cohesion or adhesion. Once it was mastered they could "build" the plate from some "material". (I think they use it to bind lesser spren, like wind spren into plate.)
  21. I posted this elsewhere because I didn't know this thread was around. ... Crazy question/theory. Why is Roshar the shape of a storm? In WoR we saw floating islands. It looks like those islands appear to be part of the map of Roshar and of Shadesmar. So they look permanent. Does all of Roshar float? And in turn take the shape of the storm? Will it change now there are two storms
  22. Thank you for this information. I have more to look up. Does anyone know who the moons are named after? Noman sounds a lot like "no man", which was used to describe who built Urithiru.
  23. Crazy question/theory. Why is Roshar the shape of a storm? In WoR we saw floating islands. It looks like those islands appear to be part of the map of Roshar and of Shadesmar. So they look permanent. Does all of Roshar float? And in turn take the shape of the storm? Will it change now there are two storms?
  24. I know very little about the Roshar "solar" system so I figured I would ask. It is said that Urithiru was built nearest to Honor. We know Urithiru is near the center of the Roshar mainland, high in the mountains. What is up from there? I remember moons and or planets, but not specifics. Are there any theories or WoB about the Roshar system?
  25. In Liar it seemed Hoid was not familiar with the civilization there. He seemed to be visiting to learn lightweaving. He may have been from another part of the planet, but he didnt act native. Are we sure he and Adolnalsium are from there?
