But you were on the last book! Red Country is great! hope you like Gardens. There will be almost no hand holding as you go. It's glorious. The power ups people go through is so fun to experience and the lore you will find overtime is mind boggling. have fun

I thought it got better. Bk 2 was my favorite of the 6 I read. I ll warn that bk 3 really sucked for the 1st half or more but it came together. The 2nd 3 where good as well. Where these books really shine is the character progression and that shines bright if you are binge reading them. There are many "get the feels" moments. There are better stories out there for sure but I'd definitely recommend reading bk1 again and then going right to bk2. If your not feeling the atmosphere that great bk then jump off. If it interests you continue but bare what I said in mind about 1st half of 3.

Yeah. Bk 8 was my least favorite so I look forward to seeing if my opinion changes, bk 3 is probably the best. Technically Karsa is in bk 2 but you won't know that till you get farther into series. Malazan is deep... hoping @maxal will try it again soon.

Finished Gardens just now. Going right into bk2 Deadhouse Gates. This bk was highly emotional the 1st time I read it. I can't wait to see what it's like this time around and how much I pick up on! Malazan FTW!!

So....the old man and his best friend went fishing for like the millionth time but this time all he managed to catch was a black lab mutt puppy. I'm not amused though she is really cute I don't want 4 dogs in here! -

Try Malazan again. It is so epic moving past bk 1. Very few books can make me have a physical emotional response but those bks get to me. There is zero hand holding in this series and it can be a huge struggle to understand what is going on but there is so much depth to the story and characters it's crazy. Large chunks of it won't even register until a reread.

@Left as I've said in the past, I encourage people reading Dune bks to also read the 2 by his son and KJA and never read a single other one by the duo.

He has massive credit on Malazan but Tigana is a big debate on there. It so large I decided I must read that one 1st. I'm really excited to start it when it comes in mail.

Has anyone here read Tigana? It's going to be my 1st GGK ever. It's hotly debated on Malazan board. Either loved or hated it it seems. I'm really curious how I will take it.

Here is one of the videos I watched. It's kinda weird but if you watch the steps he talks about I got the 1st one where you "sink" into your bed and I definitely felt the buzzing sensation. my vision was double and unclear in shades of blue and black but I could tell that I was in my room and I flew down my street. I kept trying to clear my eyes of the double vision and snapped awake doing so. I've had no luck repeating as of yet. It was strange.

I finished Expanse 5 last night. My least favorite so far. It was so boring till last 150 pgs or so. i have now dug out Malazan 1 Gardens. Have read about 50 pgs and have def run into stuff already that you would have to have read before to understand. No clue if I ll stick with it for a full series reread quite yet. I really want to finish Safehold 1st.

My advice. Don't look anything up. You will find complex spoilers if you do. Take your time and enjoy figuring out the vast web that unfolds on your own. maybe keep a journal when you come across something confusing/interesting for each book and you ll be able to go back and have many "Aha!" moments.
