Probably later than you...I'm going to have to steal it out of my brother's cold, dead hands. (I pre-ordered a signed, numbered copy from Weller Book Works for him, and gave him the receipt as a Christmas present...but I didn't have enough money to get one for myself).

Looks like I have to tweak Guardian's weakness in that light, then, but I'll wait until I've actually read the book.

Ahh...so it could be a case of an unreliable character? Or maybe zombies don't count for that? (And we know that he was wrong in that Megan was in fact alive again, so he could have been wrong on other things too...)

Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Just a minor technical issue, Dowan. To vote, you have to put that person's name in red. I've been using bold to point out players that I have questions about but won't vote for. I think I've seen some other folks around here doing that as well. If you want your vote to be counted in the tally, you'll have to change the color. EDIT: I swear that your vote was in blue when I posted! EDIT2: Also, Meta, your updated player list has Kas' role in black, not green. -
Y'all were talking about David saying that "No Epic can bring people back from the dead," a while back. Was that an actual line or fanon?

Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Just for the record, I'd have been suspicious of any late lynch based on flimsy reasoning. I get that first-round lynches rarely have strong reasoning, but without it, stuff like this happens. To answer the question of what else should we do, I agree (with many others and contra Hero) that a first-round lynch should be a live option, in order to make votes have real pressure. But we gained a lot of information that first day because of only the pressure of a lynch. It was effective because the people that we voted for knew that it would turn into a lynch if they gave us reasons to do it. I honestly feel that a tie vote would have been a better outcome than Satrams lynch. Compared to the discussion during the day, where we got . So, in essence, my preferred strategy on the first day would be: use the threat of a lynch to pressure people into giving information, but only go through with it if there's good reason to. I get that others will disagree with me, but lynching for lynching's sake, without specific information we want to gain, seems a little reckless to me. I am mildly suspicious of Eoladdin mainly because he voted late and determined the lynch on Satrams. I found his reasoning weak, (although no weaker than Wilson's original reasoning...but her post-hoc defense of her vote was a little more firm. I disagree with her reasoning, but I don't find it to be suspicious at the moment.) Since he's already got a vote on him, I don't want to bandwagon onto that, but if he doesn't respond to the vote he's already got and explain why he picked Satrams to die out of all of the options, I may well change my vote. For now, my actual vote will go towards prompting an inactive to speak up. Macen, what do you have to say about all of this? -
Sorry if my roleplay kind of killed yours temporarily...hope to see it come back online soon. I enjoyed reading through it.

Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wait...so we lynched Satrams!? Going back over the last few pages of last night I'm...not sure how I feel about this. Now, maybe I'm just projecting his confirmed innocence back onto those interactions, but all of the pretexts given seemed extremely flimsy things to base a lynch on. Wilson's after-the-fact justifications are a little better than the reason she gave yesterday, and Wyrm's vote started as a poke vote (and he seems to be implying that the time zones are aligned in such a way as to make it impractical to expect him to have removed it). So, I'm going to second the call from Wyrm for Eoladdin to explain his vote. -
Wow...just wow. I come back after 1 day, and there are more than 100 posts waiting for me! Incredible! I have to agree with mail-mi...the fact that the last Timeport post is his most upvoted one is rather disturbing. Like the post itself. Great job, mail-mi.

Adventures in Edassa Information Thread (RP Ongoing!)
Seonid replied to Seonid's topic in Inactive RPs
That is one excellent post, BreathTaker! And no problem about the time elapsed. We've all been busy over New Year's (at least it seemed like it from my less-frequent visits to the forums...it looked like much fewer people were on, even the regulars), and Towers of Midnight is a bulletproof excuse. I'm liking Bran more and more! Oh, and one other thing. Since there hasn't been any feedback on the spell system, and since this is a free-form RPG, I'm going to relax the magic rules. Pretty much, the spell points and power costs are more guidelines than actual rules. Reasoning - 1 - it is rather difficult to actually keep track of all of these different spells/points using a play-by-post mechanism 2 - there isn't actually a mechanism to keep track of day and night 3 - this game is meant to be about story, not mechanics I do plan on keeping the spell points system for when I eventually make a pen and paper RPG in this setting. It seems excellently suited for that sort of thing.- 314 replies

Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks, Eol, for that information. Unfortunately, legitimate miscommunications are always less interesting than deliberate lies. And give much less information. That's a totally reasonable scenario, actually. Since I'm probably not going to be on again this cycle before Ash responds, and that was, I'll retract the vote. (I'll probably check one more time before I go home, though.) [EDIT]: Color! Again!! -
Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
After some reflection, I've become rather interested in this: Just in case anyone was wondering, 9:00 P.M AEST should be 5:00 AM EST (New York time). Now, Eolhondras did say that Ash was one of the ones he sent the message to, so we know he's not lying about receiving the message. But, according to Eol, nobody received a message past 9:22 (which is 5:22 AM EST). So either Eol is lying about the times he sent to cast suspicion on Ash, or Ash is lying about the time he received the message. Given that Wilson was using those times to see if Eol had sent messages before a certain interaction in a PM thread (a thread which I am not privy to), and that Ashiok was claiming a message sent after the real time (according to Eol), this could mean that Ash could have been potentially lying to further cement suspicions on Eol. With this tangled web, I'm rather confused. I have no firm suspicions or accusations to make, just questions that I'd like answered. At this point, I'm going to tentatively vote Ash to see if he has anything to say to defend himself. I'll be back on in the next few hours to see if he does, but I don't expect to be online after that until after the rollover to night, so we'll see if I'm able to retract this or not. If he does mount a reasonable defense, I may well switch my vote to Eolhondren. Depends on Eolhondren's reaction to this post, too. -

Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I actually believe that. About the IRL commitments, that is. It would be completely unsporting to lie about them to gain sympathy in thread (or in a PM, or whatever). But while that might justify your lack of defense, I'll wait until I actually hear your defense to make a decision on your innocence. -
Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss

I'll bite on that, Pifferdoo. I can never resist the chance to do some good RP. Senn started as the Baron screamed. That was a disturbing sound, that one. Disturbing enough that he didn't pay attention during the rest of the speech. Some sort of recap of the events of the past day. As if any of them didn't know that themselves. The last sentence caught his ear, though. What on earth were these 'official question-asking rules?' "Well beg your pardon, Lord High Muckety-Muck. Who gave you the right to determine how we can ask questions and how we can't? Only ask your questions in the official way. Only talk to the council. Only this, only that. Sounds like a good way to never find anything useful. Well, says I, I think that we should throw out your precious question asking rules." There was a stunned silence. "And as for the matter at hand. We have the case of the mysterious Eoladdin, who seems to be going around and asking everyone if they're a Tineye. I thought he was just mad, needed an asylum, not a lynch, but Wilson thinks differently, and she's quite persuasive. What say ye?" On other matters, that is disturbingly good reasoning, Wilson. I'm...going to have to think about that for a while. But suffice it to say that I am finding Eolhondren more suspicious after that. I just need some time to weigh it out and decide whether that outweighs my worries about a potential mislynch this early. (As I posted in my above). I'm not going to join in and vote yet, but I'm going to leave the option open. The fact that Eolhondren hasn't defended himself, despite being on (although there is no way to know if he just left himself logged in...) may well be telling. I thought so. Thanks for confirming that! [EDIT:] Ninja'd by Renegade! That's another persuasive argument. Would you guys stop forcing me to reconsider my opinions! -

I was kind of hoping BreathTaker would make a post. I could further the battle at the gatehouse, but I'm going to turn over the squires (Ned and Joran) to Unodus. I'll take the Inquisition sorcerers, though...- 314 replies

Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm a little worried about the bandwagon going on about Eolhondren. It seems like he has sent out a lot of questionable messages, but I'm just worried about a day 1 lynch with so little information. All we have is a night 1 threat kill (Vron was an experienced player who would certainly have been dangerous to the Spiked. Even Wilson said that he was high on her threat list. Not that I'm saying that to accuse Wilson. I'm 95% sure that I can trust her. I'm don't 100% trust anyone, except myself, of course, but I don't expect that to carry over for anyone else.) So with that, and Eol's phishing, I'm not sure that this can give us a pattern. I mean, if he's Spiked, then all for the good. But if he's not, then we've killed a villager for no good reason and gotten no information out of it. Another point to consider is that we may have overrepresentation on the folks who have reported messages. We have no way of verifying whether they have actually received it or not, unless Eolhondren comes out and confirms/denies it. Some folks may have been misrepresenting themselves in order to push for a bandwagon on an innocent person. Unless...Meta, is it legal to invite new folks to old PM's in order to prove that they happened, or is that a misuse of the site resources? My gut says it would be a misuse, but I'd like to make sure. [EDIT:] Color!!!! -

Sanderson Elimination, Edassa, and Oregon? All at the same time, you ask? Why yes, if I do say so myself. And no, I haven't bitten off more than I can chew *looks furtively around*. Of course not. Definitely not with school starting next week. Not at all.

Well, it's late. But my post for the December prompt is up. Just over 2000 words. The prose may be a bit purple (which probably means that the scene is in need of a bit of editing), but I suppose that this is what we're here for, right? And I'm excited for the January prompt. Sounds intriguing and exciting and fiendishly difficult. All at the same time. Impressive, Kobold King. Most impressive.

I know it's past the deadline. But I hope all y'all enjoy reading it anyway. And Quiver, this is set in Edassa, so this is the first taste of the stories from there you asked for. Background - This is a short scene centered around Hearthstide (sometimes called Kirastide), the winter solstice festival for the worshippers of the Tribunal (the Court of the Gods). It is set on the fantasy continent of Edassa. More on that continent will come in responses to later months.
