On the whole Kipper thing, I don't think he's a Cultist. To give a clear record, Kipper contacted me after Mail died, finishing up Mail's list of people to contact. I had been in contact with someone who claimed to be a Warrior, and I wanted her to have that information. (At the time of this interaction, Meta had not revealed himself as a priest yet, and phattemer was in Elantris, so Wilson was the most central cleared figure in the game). Kipper did so faithfully, apparently. Two cycles later, at my request, Kipper sent me his Seon (see the drama in the archives for reference). At this point, Meta had revealed himself and had been sent to Elantris, and phatt was dead. I used it to contact Wilson, and gave her the name of my contact. Less than an hour afterwards, Luckat (I believe) posted the update on converts, with Wilson on the list. Realizing that Wilson might not be reliable, I decided to contact Meta the night after. This was the cycle that Meta posted his strongly worded request to contact me (via Kas). I contacted Meta that night, gave him the name of the Warrior, and told him something else. The Warrior and I had come up with a plan during the cycle we were in contact. I would pass on that I was in contact with a Warrior, and we would trace the path of the information. We knew that it would make me a target - that the Cultists, if they heard it, might suspect that I was the Warrior myself. So we planned to have the Warrior protect me when possible, to use me as a lightning rod for the Cultist attack. And it worked. I have since passed my Seon on to the Warrior, who is, presumably, in contact with Meta and has verified this information. Interestingly, when I contacted Meta, he told me that he had heard that I was the Warrior (and not from Wilson or Kipper), so the story certainly did become garbled in the telling. So now the question becomes: where did the information get to the Cultists? The first possibility to consider is that nobody leaked, that the Cultists just picked it up from the thread conversations. That is ruled out by the fact that Meta had heard the rumors a full cycle before the conversation - in fact, his hearing those rumors was the source of his urgent contact request. The second possibility is that Kipper is a Cultist. This is certainly possible, but the fact that he passed a Seon on to me (one not already known to be held by a cultist, unlike Winter's) is a strike against that. Not proof positive, but at least a point in favor of Kipper being on Team Village. I leave further examination to those who will come after me. Y'all are much better at this than I am, to be sure. Wilson had been cleared, so she's certainly not a cultist. Finally, either Wilson or Kipper might have passed on that information to another player, believing them to be trustworthy. So I ask: Kipper, Wilson, who else did you tell about the information passed to you?

You know, I'm just going to vote for Bort. That vote on phatt was suspicious enough to lynch for, in my opinion. I know Meta's going to scan him tonight, but if we lynch now, Meta can scan zas instead, saving us a cycle. Also, there are no really good suspicions at present. No reasons given by anyone are really sufficient for a lynch when there is such an obvious target as Bort. I look at it this way. When Meta scans him and finds that he's evil, we'll have to lynch him anyways. If we do it now, we have another cycle to discuss and come up with better suspicions than the ones we've got.

I suspect they will be frustrating at present and hilariously fun in hindsight. But that's an odd question to be asking right now. It's almost like you're certain she's going to be targeted tonight.

I'm not sure what Bort is playing at. He knows, or should know, that we are getting news from Elantris, so his votes there can't be hidden. So voting for Phatt seems like a surefire way to get him lynched. Unless he figures the gig is already up and wanted to do something useful to his team before getting lynched. If I can offer advice to Phatt, scan Bort. Zas will still be there in a cycle or two to scan later, but Bort leaves Elantris soon. I'm about 80% certain he's an Eliminator already, but it would be nice to be sure. EDIT: spelling

Wilson, I have only one thing to say in response to your accusation, and that is to reiterate my offer to be the next individual scanned by Meta. Or, if Meta doesn't want me to do it, poison me and send me to Elantris to have phattemer scan me. Or if this cycle is inconvenient, do it next cycle, or some future one. I'm not afraid of the results of a scan. My alignment has nothing to hide, and can endure the bright light of day and the searching light of a priest's inquiry with equal tolerance. EDIT: For what it's worth, I think you did the right thing with Winter, even if you did get taken in. Compassion is more important than winning a game, and all of us having fun together is more important than making sure all of our playstyles are optimal.

I suspect that we won't find any Eliminators in the Meta lynch-train. I know I'm clear, and I offer myself to Meta to scan either tonight or any future night as proof of that. That leaves only Emerald as an uncleared person, who I am not 100% convinced of, but since we villagers were doing so well at building that train of our own accord, I see little reason for an Eliminator to jump on the bandwagon at the last moment, especially as, once Meta's priestliness was revealed by the lynch, all those who voted for him would come under extreme suspicion. It's just bad strategy. Now, of course, Eliminators do make mistakes, and we shouldn't clear Emerald based on this alone, but I provisionally propose that Emerald is not an Eliminator. That's my take.

As tempting as it is, Winter, that's not going to be enough. Is there anyone willing to lend me a Seon for a cycle, though? I'd also like to make a specific contact, and would either return the Seon to its current owner, or, if the current owner wants to be passing it around, I'd pass it on to another player. Well, now I think I have enough suspicion to actually place a vote. I've been rather careful this time round with my votes, as I haven't had enough suspicion to actually put a reason behind my votes (and I know better than to place a vote without a reason). But now? Well, I think I have just enough reason for a tentative vote on Meta. Reasoning: In the first place, his response to the vote on Zas was questionable. Highly questionable. When I first read it, I gave it a pass because of experience (it's a bad habit, and one I've been weaning myself off of, but I have tended to give the arguments of more experienced players more weight), but the more I look at it, the less it makes sense. The reasoning for not voting Zas was perfectly sound - I made a strong argument for not lynching converts a priori (yes, Kas, I used it again ) several days ago. But the attempt to push that towards suspicion on Wonko and Phatt, especially given what we now know about Phatt seems poorly done to me. The more information that we are getting out of Elantris, the more suspicious that seems to me. As far as the supposed attempt to push the warrior protection off of Phatt - that seemed innocent enough. It only becomes worrying in light of my newly-found suspicion. That could be read as a frustrated rebuke for what seemed like a damaging role reveal. But it could also have been an incredibly subtle ploy to create panic in the minds of the warrior(s?) - who, as far as we know, have not managed to get into contact with anyone in the thread. A panicked warrior, with more targets than s/he could hope to cover, would be far less effective (and easier to beat at games of I know you know I know) than a calm, reasoning one. It's very subtle. From anyone else, I'd discount it. But Meta has been this subtle before (like in the Game of Shards). But finally and most completely, his responses to everyone else's questioning seems to be dancing around the point. He's had pointed questions asked of him and has not responded with direct answers. This goes beyond mere trolling. I guess my tentative suspicions were more firm than I thought they were. I just had to write it all out. I do not know if you are a Cultist, Meta, or if you are the Gyorn/Odiv, or if you are just a Villager caught in a love triangle with a member of a different team. But I am increasingly suspicious (and perhaps even growing certain) that your goals do not line up with the Village. ----------------------------------- Sheon Idris was a simple man. A grocer, really. He had never been troubled with events outside his own little neighborhood, until he had come to petition the king on behalf of his neighbors. Poor, sick, and starving, they needed the assistance. But then he had found himself caught up with the rest of the court, wrapped up in a witch hunt to find the cultists who had murdered the poor patriarch. None of them were permitted to leave, with the exception of the poor souls who found themselves taken by the Shaod. Thank Domi he had never had anything to do with that! Well, he had never considered himself to be much of an investigator, but the patriarch had been a kind and gentle man, who had not deserved his fate. For him, Sheon would look for his murderers. The one who called himself MenE kept catching his attention. He was well-known in the court as a man of sound logic and reasoned discussion. So what was this supposedly logical and reasoned courtier doing spouting on about dreams and phantoms? His fits were more than a little frightening. Unless...could it be? Could they be attempts to sway the king towards executing someone? But why not just reason his way to the conclusion. He could convince the entire court...unless the reasons weren't logical. Unless the reason was that he was one of the murderers, who wanted to steer the king toward a target that logic couldn't support. Well, the queen was known to be a sound reasoner and a cool logician as well. She could probably see through it. And she did. As he watched, she called him out on his recent actions, accusing him of treason in the name of the king. That was a good start. A few of the court spoke up, but most remained silent. MenE, for his part, tried to evade the accusations, but poorly, and with little dexterity. Finally, Sheon could bear it no longer. "Murderer!" He called out, drawing his side sword and pointing the thin blade at the courtier. "How dare you speak here, attempting to pass yourself off as a loyal subject when your hands are dripping with our patriarch's blood!" Stepping forward, he fell into a martial stance. He'd done a stint in the army, half a lifetime ago, and he still remembered how to hold a sword. He adjusted the eyeglasses on his face, their tinted lenses blocking out the glare of the rising sun through the eastern windows. "Defend yourself, traitor!" Briefly, he felt a stab of fear. What was he doing, in the king's palace, accusing one of the most influential courtiers at the court? But he shoved it down. The rapier was out. The die was cast. It was time to see things through to their conclusion. (Sorry, I may have gotten a little bit carried away with the roleplaying... )

Well, since Mail didn't get around to contacting me with his Seon before he died, I guess I'll repeat my request to get added in to the Seon network.

I don't have a lot to say, but I'll try to be productive. It is, I suppose, possible that the person with the Korathi pendant was an inactive, or hasn't been on the thread since the changeover (perhaps confused by the server going down - that did wipe out most of the free time I had to catch up on this thread yesterday, even though it might have looked like I was a lot earlier...I left this page up while I went in to work, and then went to sleep right when I came home without checking it). I have this sneaking suspicion that both the Cultists and the Gyorn are targeting Elantrians for right now, though. And I can't think of a single thing to do about it right now until we can get some Seon news out of that Colors-cursed place (if you'll excuse the mixed metaphors )

Mail, I'd appreciate contact as well. Now, on the subject of concerts, they should definitely not be a priori targets for lynches. There may be good reasons for going after a convert. There are almost no good reasons for going after them indiscriminately. At the very least, we run the risk of laying sight of the biggest danger, the cultists. Now, in saying this, I do not say that we should ignore the cultist list (if and when we get one), and we should watch for suspicious behavior leading to the odiv, but indiscriminate lynching of converts doesn't do that.

It is interesting that nobody is coming forward to identify themselves as the convert, but maybe there's another way around this. I hereby declare that I am not the convert. Is there anyone else who is willing to make a similar declaration? We can narrow it down by elimination if they won't come forward themselves.

I've been out of town, with no opportunity to post, since last Thursday. I posted that clearly in the thread, so anybody who was interested (in something other than just finding a convenient target, of course) should have known that I would be back on Tuesday. It's now Tuesday, and I'm back. I haven't read through the whole thread yet (and can I mention how annoying it is that the Day 1 thread is mixed up with the sign-up thread? Totally awkward to try to read through.), but I will, and then I'll have something to say for sure. Until then, any votes would be only poke votes, and I don't even have a clear enough picture to do that effectively.
