  1. Cool--I'll consider engineering this. Though Backtrack isn't particularly good at figuring out other Epics' weaknesses. His power allowed him to witness Lightwards' weakness in effect once, but he came to entirely the wrong conclusion about what it is. If he managed to see any of the bullying scenes, the most damaging thing Altermind has to fear is being called "Birthmark Boy" again. Assuming Backtrack even works up the gall to say that to AM's face.
  2. Mailliw, is the high school Altermind turned into his HQ the same one he attended as a youth? If so, I'm thinking of having Backtrack assigned to visit it as an "emissary" if and when he returns from The Dalles.
  3. I think it would be immensely fascinating to see an RP where players govern their own pocket universes, essentially being the gods and GMs of their own settings while crossing into other realms. That said, I don't know if that fits with the overall theme and concept you have for this setting. If the option to play as an eldritch demigod of Lovecraftian proportions were given, the RP would likely wind up solely concentrated on beings of that scale. It might be hard to give mere mortals a fair shake at heroism in such an environment. Don't get me wrong, this would be amazing to see on its own merit. But if you envision this as a "characters meet up in a tavern and have an adventure" sort of thing, than putting matters of such a cosmological scale in the hands of players could derail the story line in unpredictable directions. Overall it's up to you. It's your wonderful idea, after all--those are just some random thoughts of mine. Maybe. Right now I'm trying to get a feel for what sort of game this is intended to be, and if I have a cool idea for a character that fits with the theme, then I'll sign up in a heartbeat.
  4. ARGH STOP IT. I REFUSE TO FEEL SORRY FOR READER. CEASE THIS MADNESS.
  5. "What Happened in Hawaii" is happening. My dream is coming to life before my eyes. Please tell me Sightline won't be joining the Wacko side of Calamity any time soon. They would be an awful couple. Just plain awful. By which I mean you should hint at it as often as possible.
  6. Neat--and in general, this is a pretty awesome setting. Two more questions, for now at least. Is there a solid afterlife present within this cosmology, or is the existence of such left to the imagination of the reader? Also, what role will the players occupy in this RP; will they play as lesser mortals, or will they be allowed to play as powerful entities with access to their own mind-worlds?
  7. Not sure if you're referring to an interview I haven't seen or are espousing your own fanon... but either way, that's an incredible concept.
  8. Hey guys, guys. I'm in charge of granting your boons and inflicting your curses now.
  9. Try tweeting "Good idea, mind sending me a copy so I can check?" There's no harm in trying...
  10. Are there sapient beings besides humans in this setting?
  11. I dreamed about this RP last night. It was... odd. My recollections are hazy, but I remember emphatically that Sightline went insane and murdered literally everyone in Oregon. When this was completed, all the players decided to launch "What Happened in Hawaii." The most disturbing element of the dream is that all of this happened while I was offline, filling the dream with a sense of confusion as I tried to figure out what had just happened. Clearly I am spending too much time thinking about this RP.
  12. After passing another dark street with the same broken buildings floating above the ground, Slaughterhouse was forced to confront the fact that he had no idea what he was doing. He'd suspected as much from the beginning, but that didn't make the realization any more pleasant. He looked at the distant floating buildings and gritted his teeth, once again furious. As usual, Möbius had left him firmly out of whatever confrontation or scheme she had on the works. Most of the screaming citizens had by this point vacated the area, returned to their homes or one of Calamityville's emergency centers. The emergency centers had never been used in earnest before, but then, the sparking queen hadn't started tearing down the city before. Surprisingly, there was still one woman standing still in the street. For a moment Slaughterhouse thought she was frozen in terror--it wouldn't be the first time he'd seen such a thing. But as he drew closer, he saw that a hastily-constructed sign had been hung around her neck. It read "information booth." Slaughterhouse cocked an eyebrow and looked at the woman. She looked just as you might expect from holding a sign like that in the middle of an apocalypse: completely insane. A wide smile showing all her white teeth shone across her face, but her eyes were wide and frenzied. Curiosity won over the desire to track down Möbius. "Who are you?" he demanded of the woman. "And what in Calamity's name are you doing here?" At once the smile disappeared from her face. "Please help!" she screamed into the night air. "Please, I'm begging you. I'm stuck!" The moment her mouth stopped speaking, it snapped back into that huge, insincere smile. Slaughterhouse looked at her blankly for a moment before grinning himself. "So a human face can get stuck from smiling too much. Good to know." Tears started welling in the smiling woman's eyes. "Who did this to you?" he asked with a sigh. "Simon!" she yelped. "An Epic named Simon!" That ghastly smile took over her face again, and Slaughterhouse nodded. "I figured it was an Epic. But there's no 'Simon' in Calamityville. I know every mind-controller in town." For some reason the woman didn't respond this time, only staring in terror, standing stiff in place. Slaughterhouse irritably turned away and began marching back up the street. He caught a brief glimpse of the woman's eyes following him, almost pleading. He gave her a parting smile and walked away, leaving her to her fate. While he didn't know any Epic by the name of Simon, there was no denying an artist's merit when his work smiled straight in your face. He walked for a while more, scanning the streets and thinking. An invasion of Epics. That was the last thing Calamityville needed right now, though with any luck they'd all be too busy toying with people off the street to do any permanent damage. He turned a corner into another part of town, surprised to see a pair of shapes standing at the other end of a street. Floating buildings floated above their heads, but they seemed remarkably nonchalant about it. Slaughterhouse crossed the road, trying to get a better look at the two men. One looked positively feral in appearance, dressed in rugged black clothing with his hair pulled into a messy ponytail. The other man looked regal. He stood tall in the street, a circlet on his pale head and a purple cloak billowing behind him. Clearly Epics, though no Epics he could recognize. Perhaps they could shed some light on the odd events in town. Slaughterhouse first optimized his body, placing slightly more muscle mass around his arms and making his eyes sharper. Putting a smile across his face, he stepped forward and into the strange pair's view. "Hello," he drawled. "I am called Slaughterhouse." He focused on the blonde one in the circlet, smiling even more widely. "Why don't you tell me what your pretty face is doing here before I have to tear it apart."
  13. Writing a reaction now. I've been fairly confused this whole time, unsure of what precisely I should be doing.
  14. That would be incredibly awesome, but TwiLyght's correct. Redlight would be used to to immobilize them, Glamour would be used to disorient them, and Deathwish would be told to inject them with the poison. I imagine that Team Vondra has probably done this before.
  15. Yes. Though if Reader believes that they're likely to cause further trouble for the town if set loose, then the option to leave will be taken from them.
  16. That's about what I figured. None of you can make it easy for the poor census worker, can you? Nighthound threw my count off in his first post. Do you know what the first thing he did upon entering Portland was? HE MURDERED AN ENTIRE CROWD OF PEOPLE. I've got him put down for a rough thirty-five fatalities at the moment, and I know as a fact his kill count only goes up later on.
  17. You know, if I didn't already have a plan for Lightwards' final demise on the books, I'd actually look into that. That could be a very fitting end to Lightwards--reduced to a faintly giggling man sitting in the ash of Oregon, arranging tiny scraps of rubble into miniature cities and cackling about his Empire of Light. I'm only counting on-screen deaths. It's implied that Altermind and CorpseMaker have total killcounts that might reach into the hundreds, but they are not shown and no details are elaborated upon.
  18. I know, right? Lightwards was supposed to be a kind and cuddly man who'd spend all his time handing out spam to homeless people, but his characterization completely got away from me. (I guess this all just comes from us writing without any solid outlines.) Unrelated, but out of curiosity and boredom I've started compiling a list of every confirmed death associated with one of the RP's characters. Essentially trying to weigh how large of a kill count we can pin on each of our Epic and human characters. So far I'm on Page 3, and I have scarcely any numbers to show for it. I've pinned two confirmed Epic deaths to Sightline's name, but Altermind and Scorch--said to be some of the worst Epics in town--have thus far spent all of their time pranking one another and haven't caused any fatalities at all. I'm going to savor this peaceful period of the RP before I get to Nighthound.
  19. He'll try to keep a tough face around her, but he might hug Vondra when he hears the good news from him. Remington may also be at high risk of hugging next time they're in the same room. I like it. As a general rule Lightwards doesn't take children as Warriors. I'm afraid to say this isn't because of a shred of human decency, and is simply because children are smaller and weaker than adults. If he had the ability to create unlimited numbers of Warriors however, there'd be quite a few kids among their ranks.
  20. And this year's Nobel Slontze Prize goes to Reader from The Dalles, for pushing the limits of trolling further than anyone else before him. (I echo TwiLyght's sentiments. ) I thought of that too, but they're probably used to Reader saying weird things in that room. It would certainly make them despise him more, since a lot of the soldiers probably lost friends and family to Koschei, but they wouldn't kill him over it. It would only add to the long list of slontzey things Reader does.
  21. Speaking of Glamour and ponies...
  22. Please tell me The Financier will be appearing in "What Happened in Astoria." Item 678: Nathan and Remington are not fond of spam. Lightwards is a depraved maniac who eats it straight out of the can. I'm waiting. One of these days, Funtimes is going to start listening to Nathan's misgivings. If she'd just listened, she'd be having a carefree party in Tillamook right now while Lightwards futilely tried to take on CM on his own.
  23. "Gah! Don't you have any decent soap, woman?" "Unfortunately, no. Astoria put an embargo on Portland a few months ago, and this is all I could find. Is that a problem?" * grumbling * "I am going to murder my economic adviser when I get back..." You could fill a book--quite a few books, really--with things that separate Lightwards and Nathan. You can fill most major libraries with the list of things separating Lightwards from Remington. I'm not sure if that's exciting or ominous.
  24. Minor Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D spoilers
