Yeah, that sounds... oh. Sorry, I'll get on that when I can. I'd say it was a very exclusive list, but most Epics in Oregon deserve a place on it.

I also agree. (Which is rather moot, since the GM has already spoken on the matter, but I get cranky when I don't voice my opinions. ) Vondra and co. would be greatly appreciative of Elsa's powers. If she's still in the early stages of corruption, maybe she could be convinced to work with them.

Agreed. Many welcomes, Elsa! I have a feeling The Dalles is about to get... Frozen over.

Yep, now's as good a time as any to start a Scumbag Steelheart meme. Proxy is quite probably the most powerful Epic on that list. He could gift Steelheart's abilities to a gang of thugs in his employ, ensuring their loyalty by threatening to take their powers if they rebel.

Introduce yourself on the Question thread first, and PM TwiLyghtSansSparkles your character's Epic weakness. You'll be given advice on where to introduce your character from there.

Canon refers to knowledge or lore accepted as genuine within the bounds of a certain fictional universe or belief system. For instance, the short story Mitosis is considered canon within the Steelheart universe, as the events of the story are accepted by the author to have taken place in the same setting. The Book of Luke is considered canon in terms of church belief, as all Christians accept it as part of the Gospel and thus part of the teachings of Jesus Christ. In the context of Seonid's comment, the scene in which Ari meets the Snow Queen is currently non-canon, as the scene is specified to occur outside the narrative of the Oregon role-playing game. But if the Snow Queen genuinely became a character, the scene would become possible within the setting's rules and boundaries. Hope that helps. And I look forward to seeing your character profile.

Ouch. Right in the cultural appreciation. Another casualty would have been the Field Museum of Natural History--probably the best museum I've ever been to. Steelheart's rage would have destroyed hundreds of irreplaceable artifacts, including one of the last great auks preserved via taxidermy, the infamous Lions of Tsavo, and Sue, the world's most complete tyrannosaurus skeleton. And let's not get started on the Shedd Aquarium, which is one of the largest indoor aquaria in the world. Thousands of aquatic animals, including such intelligent species as dolphins and beluga whales, would have been encased in steel and suffocated. And in all likelihood, Steelheart never spared a second thought for any of these atrocities. Steelheart was kind of a slontze, if you think about it.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

What if I told you... that you could eat ice cream while browsing the 17th Shard? -
I would not necessarily be opposed to 11 or 12 Lightwards' and Nighthounds being forced to compete against each other in the Hunger Games.

Do you still have the pony code for Brandon Sanderson? And if so, could I have it?

When Calamity hits, the first thing I'm doing is laying waste to Arizona. (Or... well, making Arizona even more wasteland-y, I suppose.) Queen Elsa Steelheart. I told her that a character in the RP had already mentioned someone called "The Snow Queen of Newcago," and she expressed some interest in joining.

Theory: all Epics worked as customer service representatives before Calamity. Steelheart at the bank, Nightwielder at a large Japanese company, and Mitosis as the chief PR person for his band. Also, I invited someone on the Social Guilds portion of the site to join the Oregon RP. Does that make me the PR person for WHIO?

So... the bank Steelheart destroyed was where he once worked as a customer service representative. Everything makes sense now.

There are two threads where the story itself unfolds--What Happened in Portland and What Happened in The Dalles, both set in different Oregon cities. The Dalles is where new players are encouraged to start off, and is currently the scene of a massive invasion of talking pandas created by a flesh-controlling Epic. Question 5 is where planning for the game, jokes, and ponified characters take place. See you there!

All it takes to join is to create a character that could fit in the universe of Steelheart, and then move said character into Oregon. So you could definitely create an ice-controlling Epic from Newcago who decided to move to Oregon. If you're actually interested in joining, I'd recommend checking out these two short guideline pages: What is Free-Form Role-Playing? Rules and Etiquette And then just leave a message on the Question thread. Everyone's welcome, and our playerbase is very good with helping newcomers learn how to play.

Are there better uses for my time than ponifying Mocha Maxima? Certainly. If there were a sombrero option in the creator I'd ponify El Brass Bullish Dude.

Well if you ever wanted to join the Oregon RP, I suppose your inclusion has already been foreshadowed.

What Happened in Mexico... is too strange to be believed, even on this sub-forum. As a tantalizing hint though, El Brass Bullish Dude would have been the primary antagonist.

There's a line in Steelheart where Megan says that Newcago doesn't receive imports from Latin America; I take this to mean that there are still trade routes active in the world, but Steelheart chooses not to use them for his own nefarious purposes. Then again, your idea is way cooler. Can we name the coffee Epic "Mocha Maxima"?

Out of curiosity, how is CM's coffee shop supplied with coffee beans still? Are there still trade routes in the post-Calamity world, active and shipping goods from the Equator to Oregon?

It is most definitely set in a different world--although at one point an Oregon character mentioned "The Snow Queen of Newcago" as being present in the Oregon universe.
