Adventures in Edassa Information Thread (RP Ongoing!)
Kobold King replied to Seonid's topic in Inactive RPs
This is seriously awesome. The degree of quality worldbuilding in this thread continues to astonish me. Here's the general concept for my character, presented for review. I envision my character as a spirit who has been embodied hundreds of times through Edassa's history, usually taking the form of various animals of lower intelligence. She has lived many lives--a tomcat named Speckles one life, one of a thousand herrings in a school the next. Since becoming a familiar, however, she's taken to strongly identifying with what she sees as her most successful life--that of the Murk Lurker. The Murk Lurker was an exceptionally large and powerful female crocodile which became infamous for her ferocity and sudden ambushes. Her life as the Murk Lurker lasted a hundred and twenty-eight years, during which she hatched countless young, staked out an enormous territory, and devoured dozens of villagers. She looks back to her crocodile days with nostalgia, and takes the shape of a gargantuan grey crocodile as her familiar form. Would that be suitable, Seonid? If so, what sort of terrestrial crocodile is the most similar to Edassa's variety? I'm thinking in terms of the Australian saltwater crocodile, but I can change that if necessary. I could even change the character to a large alligator. As a final note, I can't quite remember who my assigned sorcerer was. So who's interested in an enormous infamous crocodile as a familiar?- 314 replies

So he went to California and tracked down Mobius, just so he could insult her and get banished to a pocket universe? That takes a lot of guts, but it's definitely a clever way to avoid permanent death. You have my stamp of approval, not to mention upvotes. Definitely twentydeaths!Lightwards. Soon to be twenty-onedeaths!Lightwards.

Exactly. And I think all the Seven Deadly Sins ultimately boil down to putting yourself before others. In other news... it's Brandon Sanderson's birthday!

"The power of God compels thee... as does my fist." Backtrack sort of represents Lust in a comically dorky sort of way. As for the Nighthound/Ray relationship... it's disturbing, but there's nothing explicit. Honestly the worst that's happened on that front is a couple of very creepy hugs. Certainly a violation, but not quite the dark and gritty material you're probably thinking of.

Happy Koloss Head Munching Day
Kobold King replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Happy birthday to Brandon Sanderson! -
I'd rather throw Lucentia into the event horizon of a black hole. She could heal from a simple punch in the face. Lightwards is just the kind of pretentious person who would talk about people "trembling before his wrath," too. He can also adequately embody Pride, Greed, and Envy. Pretty much the only sin he doesn't touch is Lust. (Unless a lust for power counts.)

When does he exhibit Sloth? Whatever else you can say about Nighthound, he seems to be an industrious little tike. If anything Voidgaze is closer to Sloth. Wow. Really awesome work! This is as awesome as the Harry Potter fans who worked out where Durmstrang is located. Upvote!

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Kobold King replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted. The genie trained under the Nightwatcher, and gives out curses with every wish. I wish for a quality TV show to watch. -
Hello, 17th Shard! I'll be brief, direct, and to the point. No one likes an off-topic, meandering first paragraph, right? Why, just the other day I was reading a topic and thinking "Gee, some people just can't seem to hold a thought..." Ahem. Here's the issue: my family and I enjoy viewing various television programs every night. It helps us unwind, relax, and avoid the Almighty-cursed proposition of having a conversation of an evening. (We get along just fine, but no one quite feels like chit-chatting at the end of a day.) Unfortunately, here lately we have completely run out of quality entertainment material, leaving us woefully without a show every evening. We'd appreciate some good recommendations for television shows, if it's not too much trouble. We avoid shows with excessive gore or sexual content, and would prefer clean, family shows. We're fond of Doctor Who, Firefly, Once Upon a Time, and clean sitcoms such as Corner Gas. We've been known to indulge in well-written cartoons like Phineas and Ferb, but they're not generally our first choice. The 17th Shard is a well-versed community when it comes to entertainment, so I look forward to seeing what recommendations you have. Thanks in advance.

Clearly Koschei was the Master all along, and he regenerated into Mobius when Remington wasn't looking. Though that does beg the question of whether Calamity would grant superpowers to a Time Lord. Welcome to the Top 50. Be warned: 'Tis a silly place, filled with conflict and intrigue. Only the bravest, cleverest, and most strikingly handsome members ever make it to the Top 10. This statement is in no way influenced by the personal situation of the poster.

How woefully ironic. Aggressively intellectual Lightwards, meeting his downfall from a branch of knowledge he scorned. My best guess: Mobius has secretly been Missy in disguise this whole time.

Depends on whether or not Time Lords can be the recipients of gifted Epic powers. Lightwards is demonstratably capable of reanimating all terrestrial forms of life aside from Epics--a humanoid alien like a Time Lord, while powerful, is nowhere near as different from a human being as an oak tree is, and Lightwards can raise plants. My guess is that Lightwards could raise a Time Lord, though he'd get very few benefits from it. I was going to write further than what I did with Nathan speaking up for the TARDIS crew and helping to get them Funtimes protection, but I figured I should refrain from writing the entire crossover in one sitting. Also, is Aldo the one who accidentally caused the spatial manipulation, or is something more sinister at play...

And thus all the women of the world converged in a single location, weapons of all shapes and sizes in their hands. Some wore veils, some wore blue jeans, some wore scraps of rainforest fibers wound around their waists; regardless of culture or religion, age or class, they all united in a single city in Oregon to kill one man. And then Nighthound died. I've actually considered having Redlight function as Vondra's secretary/bodyguard. So there'd be a precedent for Epics working in his offices.

"Hello, officer? I'd like to report a feeling of mild violation. Coming from Oregon. What do you mean you can't arrest anyone from that alone? I'd like to speak to a female officer, please." Vondra's secretary?

It would only bring the Dark Alley newer and more dangerous enemies. I almost feel like we should have a different thread for the random DW/Harry Potter crossovers that pop up here all the time.
