That was G1 canon, though. We have no idea how the FiM Smooze would react to the Elements of Harmony. Plus, I'm of the opinion Discord chose Smooze as his guest in "Make New Friends But Keep Discord" specifically because of his ability to resist alicorn magic, so Celestia or one of the other princesses couldn't ruin his plans for the night. We don't know what fel magic makes the Smooze tick; certainly it's something more complicated than the interior of a Muk, which is basically just a pile of sentient poison.

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
Kobold King replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Sure, Kobold! Trying to destroy a buzzing wasp nest with a rock can't possibly go wrong! What a brilliant idea this was, that absolutely did not just result in a wasp getting stuck between two of your toes and stinging you on a painful nerve junction. You're so clever, Kobold. -
I ship the number 9, 000 with the number 10, 000.

Which makes this thread quite a rare junction of puns.

And even more carefully conducted.

I've always thought Charizard would make a good couple with Dragonite. And Illuminati:
-
Loco motives, you mean?
-
What in the wide wide world of Equestria makes you think a Charizard could even come close to taking out the ponies? There isn't an entity in the Pokemon universe that the Elements of Harmony couldn't neutralize. And yes, that includes Arceus and Giratina.
-
You noticed that, did you? And here was me thinking I'd covered my tracks.

Annoying big brother trick #401: Every time your younger sibling uses the word "train," pretend to be driving a literal train while making "CHUGGA-CHUGGA CHOO-CHOO" sound effects. It's a effective way to derail the conversation.
-
You fight a losing battle, Illuminati.

Vorin women's food, because I like fruit and I adore sweet-and-sour sauce. Would you rather shift into a different Parshendi form every time you sneeze, or be incapable of distinguishing spren from muffins?

"When people see that cape of yours billowing in the wind, they know that they are staring at an Epic who fears nothing." See? Stealth insults are the best. Would you rather attend a Bible study with Obliteration or Regalia?

I could get behind this. I would still very much oppose downvotes' usage in casual disagreements, but this would remove a bit of the sting. There are apparently members who can watch their posts bleed into the red negative without a twinge of unhappiness, but I am not one of those people.

I'd have been banned thrice over for Lightwards' rudeness, Deathwish's sleaziness, and probably Backtrack's bad luck.

Relative value of entertainment???
Kobold King replied to Delightful's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I don't know much about this topic, but it's always seemed to me that reading is a superior form of ingesting information than television or a video game. Reading requires the reader to participate in the story by applying one's imagination. Character actions can be described, but the mental image ultimately has to be derived from the reader's own mind. Voices are exactly as the reader imagines them. Any one sentence is open a bazillion different interpretations, based solely on who the reader is and what mood they're in when they read it. Contrast this to a movie or a TV program, in which every bit of information is beamed directly into the viewer's eyeballs with very little room for alternative interpretation. A written story is almost like a collaborative work of art between the author and the reader. A movie doesn't allow for the same kind of interactivity. (I don't know enough about video games to make a pronouncement about them, but I suspect they fall under the same category as movies and TV shows.) Don't get me wrong, I adore movies, television, and even find a few video games fascinating in their concepts, but personally I've always thought books and stories are slightly better. -
I agree most heartily with this opinion. I don't downvote people who disagree with me. In fact, if they phrase their arguments well I usually upvote them. I've upvoted a lot of posts on this very thread that I vehemently disagree with, as a matter of fact. Because of how the system is set up, a downvote is very literally a subtraction from a member. A downvote says "I do not appreciate having this on the forum," quite loudly and clearly. And forgive me for saying, that is awful. I value the people who hold dissident opinions from myself. I'm glad they're on the forum. I encourage them to continue arguing so long as they're civil and rational, and attaching a red badge of shame to everything I disagree with goes against every rule of conduct that I hold dear. Essentially, disagreement downvotes to me seem the equivalent of yelling "Shut your mouth! No one wants to hear what you have to say!" at someone. A disagreement downvote doesn't foster a proper conversation. It fosters only bitterness and a system where only majority opinions are allowed to be expressed.

* laughs maniacally at possessing information kept secret from the GM * * feels guilty * * withers under accusing glares * * tries to blend in with the floor * Awesome work. Take this upvote--you deserve it. Though it's a good thing we decided to completely disregard the Epic ratio WoB.

I'm glad you got it (somewhat) taken care of. Car problems suck. On the bright side, having to stand outside in the Arizona heat is an excellent excuse for ice cream.

The history of vampire-related mythology. Arguments for or against the bestowing of legal rights on dolphins or the great apes. Hypothetical forms of non-terrestrial biochemistry, such as silicon-based life forms. Those are all research papers I've came close to writing, before I started working towards the family curriculum and was released from paper duty.

There are other copies. It's the symbolism that counts. Anyone can be redeemed. The question is "Will it be more enjoyable to see him redeemed or thrown under a bus?" How were you thinking of doing it?

* takes Dalles charter * * slowly tears it up * "Let me put this in simple terms. If you're looking for sex, this isn't the town for you."

You mistake him for Arsenal. He would chuckle, tell her "You're not my type," and then have Redlight freeze her still while he outlines the fact that if she doesn't consent to live by the terms he sets for her, she will not be able to take one step in The Dalles without fear of being gunned down in the street.
