  1. What about their spren? Are we gonna see a spren romance? Not sure how that would work though. Would the spren interfere in a romance? Maybe Syl and Pattern will throw down. Don't the honor spren and cryptics/lie spren have issues?
  2. I thought that perhaps Renarin manifested his talent of illusion and sent Relis a vision that freaked him out. Kallidan caught the blade, but maybe what Relis saw was him killing Kallidan. Radiants seem to manifest their abilities in stressful situation... For Renarin this moment seemed pretty stressful...
  3. I think you touched on something here. It seems to me that the shared surge between two orders is affected differently for each order.Renarin and Shallan share illumination, but how they use it and its effects seem different. Renarin "sees". I think his access to progression affects his illumination ability. Perhaps the illusions he can create are true, only for a specific target. Something strange happened during the duel, when his opponent ran off the field. I think Renarin used illumination to show him a future truth that freaked him out. Shallan "transforms". Her illuminations have the ability to transform others as if the view she creates of a person changes them - transforms them. Also, her illuminations are seen by everyone.
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but each honor blade grants the wielder access to specific surges only. If I'm right Szeth won't be using gravitation surges in the future.
  5. 2. I wonder about Shallan/Pattern a lot. From the very little we know about the different spren factions, the Cryptic seem to plan and play the long game. This might sound crazy, but is it possible that the Cryptics have been working behind the scene to bring about the return of the radiance? Like a chess game, did they bring about the events with Shallan's family to get her to Jasnah and through Jasnah she'd get to the Shattered Plains? We know Elokar saw them around him, causing his paranoid fears and affecting his behavior. This might be a bit of a stretch, but Elokar's action began the string of events bringing Kallidan to the Shattered Plains. - support for this theory could be that Elokar stopped seeing the Cryptics when Kallidan began guard duty (Cryptics stop revealing themselves, since their task getting Kal there was done) Comments?
  6. This is great! Thx I think the prep for this coming desolation is different though. These roles will be constants, but the main players seem unique. So far Kal, Shallan, and Lift each have a separate gift from their order. Lift can create storm light (metabolize it directly from food). Shallan seems to be able to transform people (influence a person to change them, bandits into soliders, bad men into good, etc.) Kal seems to control wind in some way. Their spren seem to think they shouldn't be able to do these things.
  7. Maybe this is off topic a bit, but I was wondering if anyone has a breakdown/guess for what each order did to break the Nahel bond (day of recreance). Each spren (Ivory, Syl, Pattern, even the Stormfather...) believe they will be killed eventually, but how? Is it different for each order?
  8. I have a feeling Jasnah used up her stormlight healing herself and traveling to Shadesmar and then was stuck there. She indicated to Wit that she had just managed to escape. Escaped from Shadesmar? From some faction in Shadesmar?
  9. Anyone remember which herald statue was missing from the hall when Szeth killed the king in wok? I always wondered if Gavilar used that black gem stone thingy to revive one of the heralds. That sphere he gave to Szeth stating "they mustn't have it". All we know about the sphere is that Szeth hid it in the city after the assignation. I was thinking that Nalan used that weird sphere or one like it to revive Szeth.
  10. It seemed to me that he can only see the distant future. If he could see the near future, he would have known they would survive the battle and escape the storms. Instead he kept ranting that they were all gonna die.... Maybe he's too new at his abilities?
  11. Pattern said he was attracted to Shallan's family because of their "lies". But we discover he was with her at the young age of 10 when it seemed all was rather normal for her family. She had already said the words when she was a child. Just wondering if there is more to her back story...
  12. Love what Sanderson did with this pair! Sort of saw it coming in WoK when Kal kept referring to his Mom's sharp wit. The off hand comments started me comparing her to Shallan and wondering... I think Adolin is due for character building (or breaking). I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn to the dark side. Now a murderer, not a radiant (on the outside looking in on Shallan, Kal, his Father and brother!), and he seems to have a unique relationship with his Tainted shard blade...
