There's something very cool happening: the campaign to fund the Altered Perceptions anthology. It's a campaign conceived by Brandon to help Robison Wells, who has crippling debt due to medical issues. It's a cool, awesome thing. And what can you get for doing it? Well, some chapters from the original draft of The Way of Kings. As Brandon explains on his blog, In Way of Kings Prime, not only did Roshar not have the spren (which is hard to even conceive of Roshar not having), but the Shattered Plains was also not a thing on that world yet--the Shattered Plains had originally been on the planet Yolen in the original draft of Dragonsteel. When Brandon was revising The Way of Kings from scratch, he felt Kaladin (then called Merrin) had taken the easy path. So the version we all know now is the hard path, after taking... well, you know Kaladin's flashbacks. It should be very interesting to see. But I'm a bit worried it won't get funded, so take a look at it, and see if you can spare a little bit. I'm sure Rob would really appreciate it. There's only ten days left, so take a gander! -

Hey! I sometimes command too Though I haven't for a while. It's stressful. We lost against CD and SBI. I think the server just gave up late last week and CD beat us by a few thousand points the last day. It was not fun. I definitely don't envy your WvW matchup. At least from what I can gather we're more focusing on NSP's borderlands. Trying not to harass you too much The EB map is disgusting right now. Yeah you'd think I'd love it, but it's... not an interesting match. And that sucks there aren't more WvW guilds on SoR. We know that feeling. During Season 1 we lost a lot of our WvW guilds, but they actually came back (some in better shape than others). I guess I'll need to follow you and see when you're commanding in WvW Haha. I bet if we fought, though, you'd stomp me. I'm not super experienced of a commander.

It's still not formally a number But that is one way programs can output it. Psh, in the philosophy of the cosmere, that makes perfect sense. He never claimed that was a number In fact, there happen to be different kinds of infinities. Some contain much more than others. That would be an interesting thing to do, but there's not an immediately easy way to do that. I suppose I could write SQL queries to do that, but that sounds like work.

Psh, he suggested that a variable, like say, someone's reputation level, be equal to infinity, which is quite heinous. He gets a -1 on his quiz and me saying "very bad notation, see me" on it

This topic does not get enough love. Where are all the silly announcements? I have a non-silly announcement. I have obtained my Master's degree in math this last Saturday. You may now legally refer to me as Master, and that's totally okay. Or Mathster, or High Prelan of Numbers. All good in my book. Even more awesome, I actually have a job! Granted, I'm not moving far, but I'm a non-tenure track faculty member at my university. I'll be a supervisor in our Math Learning Center, and work and teach full time this upcoming semester. I'm really excited. I would not mind doing this for a time while using some additional free time to write more.

All part of my master plan. I've seen the great future. It's a wonderful future, where I have more reputation than Swimmingly, the fatal memory error is gone, and rumor has it that the ball in MBI is actually done. Granted, this is the distant future, but still. Sad to report no hovercars yet...
