Hello! Instead of going to sleep (which I should probably do because I initially typed "insteading" there), I Skyped with Monica (coloring extraordinaire) and we did some adjustments. First we adjusted the grey on the topic view, which should make things seem less bright and also have more contrast between posts. We agreed that, in practice, unread forums were not obvious enough, so we've also done another iteration on the "unread" forum markers. Like the old site, when things are unread, there is now a light color accent to signify it. The lit up Aon is also ten thousand times more obvious. We might do some additional tweaking as things progress, but that should make things better for this purpose. This has the added benefit of having unread topics in the topic list in a particular forum from having that light blue hue. It is subtle but it being brighter was definitely not optimal. I'm well aware that Aon Sao--the one used as the regular forum marker--isn't appearing great on mobile. We will be investigating this another day, so bear with us for now! And now for me to answer some questions and finally go to sleep soonish. There doesn't seem to be a centralized place to see member statuses anymore. This probably has to do with the depreciation of Friends as a concept on the forums. I'm sorry Well argued. I will definitely take this under consideration. That's because you can't, for now, because when I held the power of the Well of Ascension, I gimped the menu for Activity Streams. For now! I'll work on that! The site seems to be performing okay now... but I will still keep an eye on this.

It is my impression they did not. I remember talking to Brandon at the Alloy of Law release and he described the struggle between the Shard and a person's mind. He described it like a struggle that the Vessel could literally never win. So I think the intents were innate.

That would be one of the minor features that aren't super sexy in a blog post, but makes things SO NICE.

I don't think Brandon makes a distinction between a Shard and its intent. When one picks up the Shard, they would become Preservation, or Odium, or whatever. The intent of a Shard is inextricably tied to the power of that Shard. So when I read that Adonalsium could have been Shattered differently, I can only interpret that to mean that there would be different intents for these sixteen pieces. We have no evidence to suggest that aside from a Shard's intent they were any different, initially. They did start at the same power level. I think the intent of a Shard is its only defining characteristic--it's just power otherwise.

So with that Quick Fix topic, something is seriously wrong. Okay, maybe not ultra serious but I haven't seen an error message like this appear before. I locked down the thread and would encourage you to continue it in a new thread as I investigate. PM me immediately if you find another thread with this issue!

Hey guys. There is some weird error that is happening to cause these double posts to appear. It seems isolated to this thread. I hope you wouldn't terribly mind if I closed this thread and have you guys remake the thread (while the thread hasn't gone on long) while I try and investigate what is going on. I'm doing this also because I've been awake more than 24 hours and I need sleep. Rest assured when I wake up this will be a top priority. You know, that's a really good point. I will investigate this after I have slept and can properly comprehend what you mean here (Not that you aren't making sense, but just that I am extremely, extremely tired. I still haven't slept!) You're on point! The first is because I totally forgot to put that block in. I have now done so. Oops! For the Allomantic symbols... I'm going to be honest, it seems that there were a lot of fans of them, now that I read this topic. But I actually think that the symbols were unclear as to their function, so I did not go for putting them into this version. Those symbols do have functional meaning and obfuscating them with Allomantic symbols--while flavorful--were unclear. They didn't really scream what the icons meant, you know? Good UI design shouldn't force you to mouse over the icon to figure out what it means. Oh, by the Maillw, I'm not ignoring you. We're thinking about how the phone editor UI should go. I will investigate.

Windy explained the first one there--that's what that blue line means--but what do you mean by "Will not show people on that thread" and "identical thread symbols"?

Bah, that's totally not orange! Come on As for Unread Posts, it appears on the breadcrumb off of the Forum home. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/discover/unread/ I will be making a dropdown for the newspaper icon soon for these Activity Streams so they are more obvious.

The star is still there on mobile, but it is pretty small. You can also tap a thing on the main forum page to go to the recent reply.

I do try and interact more, but I'm typically very busy. I enjoy it a lot! As others have stated, from the topic list view, you can list the star or circle to the left of the title to go to the first unread post.

I can see how the size would be more annoying, for sure.

What screen resolution are you running?

Don't hit Submit Reply more than once. It will make posts look like Gamma's, because I have a setting where it merges double posts together. There is something awry performance wise that I am investigating. Bear with me. I will probably need to sleep soon though...

I've removed it for you. Ah, I see. (Note: I literally never navigate things using that, so it is a bit alien.) Try this: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/discover/content-started/?&stream_ownership=postedin Basically with Activity Streams you can set what things you want displayed, and so I just changed the Ownership tab to "I posted in". Does that do it? The Activity streams seem to load very slowly for me... so I dunno, but I think that should do it?

I am currently investigating performance issues with the site and keeping a close eye on things.

Oops, that's not supposed to be there. I have fixed it. Additional themes are very much possible, but do require additional overhead.
