Poetry reading, squeeing over Pattern, and moaning about Shallan backstory. All in a day's work, right?

I actually think I laughed harder at the wet slime and the crab thing.

My problem was that I was being silly and trying to read aloud as I was reading and then funny things happened and I lost it and this friends, is a moral lesson about why you should always have read something first before trying to read aloud. Otherwise you sound like a dork.

I will remember that. Its too bad, I was looking forward to like a crazy laugh there. I was on a bus when I read that and then burst out laughing. when I showed people they were like "oh."

So far as the pronunciation of Alethikar within the story goes, you could well have been pronouncing it right all along and Hoid (probably) dropping that syllable could simply be an elision for the sake of the meter.

I think it's a matter of emphasis rather than syllable number, actually. I tend to say "a-LETH-kar" but the way the poem went, it ended up as "A-leth-KAR".

Oops, for some reason I tend to read "Alethkar" as "Alethikar", seeing an 'i' there for no apparent reason. So I thought you were commenting on that, and... :[

On second thought, though, even with the proper spelling emphasis in poetry/song isn't necessarily correct, so there's still some chance you had it right to begin with.
