Shardcast: Children of the Nameless

Chaos

At least a nonzero of you wanted this: an episode on Children of the Nameless, a novella Brandon wrote in the Magic: The Gathering universe, released for free last December. Is it any good? Turns out it's actually pretty good even if you don't know about Magic. We are going to talk about the plot as well as the lore.

To that end we have a special guest Colton (coltonx9), a Sharder and long time listener who we brought in to educate us about Magic: The Gathering lore. We also have Eric (Chaos), Ian (WeiryWriter), and Evgeni (Argent).

Was a huge MTG geek around the time of Shadows over Innistrad. And I absolutely cracked up when Eric said, "Oh, that's a town!" Immediately I looked up Hanweir because I knew exactly what he was talking about :P

AND THANK YOU! BLUE IS THE BEST COLOR SECOND MAYBE ONLY TO BLACK!

As usual, I love the discussions.  I have been a MTG fan for a very long time.  Despite that hobby, and my love of Brandon’s work, I like many others am getting frustrated with work outside the cosmere.  I understand taking a break to stay interested but this has been a looooooong break.  Can we please get some cosmere love for Endowments sake!

It was great - and I'm still waiting for the Davriel Planeswalker - They ARE supposed to print one soon, for those who care.

I have never played MTG, but have been interested in it for a long time. When I learned that an upcoming set of cards and a book would contain Davriel, I finally decided that I should at least start looking at the story. And by start looking at the story I mean archive binge the entire history of the Gatewatch (starting with the Magic: Origins stories). I am almost done with the Zendikar debacle arc, and even before they were officially a group the Gatewatch seems to perfectly fit Colton's description of them as [paraphrased] "a group of planeswalkers who try to help everyone and invariably fail miserably." This should be fun to follow.

I play a fast white deck with a little green. My reasoning?
74% of people think that blue is the strongest colour. The best defence against a control deck is a speed deck, usually white or green.

Yay for MTG.
