So I’m in the middle of Elantra’s and it seems that taln is suffering an affliction not unlike the hoed, he is in such pain he is essentially insane and like a hoed he constantly repeats a mantra as a coping mechanism and finally, like riino, he is only salvated when being enhanced from investiture, riino was enhanced by the lake and taln was inhanced for a small amount of time by dalinars oath, thoughts?

Wow. And the Seon connection to the deadeye. Possibly it's all part of the spiritual dis"connection" associated with the recreance. After all, Dalinar tells Kaladin it's something supernatural with Ishar.

Aswell as that , riino is slightly awoken when raoden makes an aon , and taln is slightly awoken when shallan does some light weaving

Let's just say something weird is happening to make deadeyes. They didn't exist before the Recreance. There should be a relationship here that reminds you of something else you've seen in the Cosmere.

I suspect that there is a parallel between the imprisonment of BaM and the Shaod as a whole. The Seon/deadeye connection has already been pointed out - I think it has to do with a broken Connection. In addition, it's hinted at in the books that the madness of the Heralds is not simply due to the extended torture. I think the imprisonment of BaM damaged the Connection that kept the Heralds alive, and that this led to their madness. How exactly BaM was able to manipulate this Connection, though, I'm not sure.

Holy crap, I never noticed that hahaha

Hoed Mantra - check.
Short lapse of consciousness - check.
And the general idea of something new/changing in Elantris changing AonDor and with the oddity that is deadeyes,

Really good call there! :D

This was something I always thought was similar, though there is something different, the Elantrians are still 'human'(well, human plus?) and the Heralds are cognitive shadows, but I am not sure that makes a huge difference.

Elantris spoilers

To me it seems like the Elantrians Identity is tied up in their city, so when it gets damaged, it damages themselves as well. And the heralds have their identity tied to the Oathpact, it got messed up, so they are messed up with it.
