They apparently did it for Rise of Skywalker where Palpatine's speech to the galaxy was broadcast exclusively in Fortnite (I think, I don't play the game, I read it on Tvtropes which prides itself on not needing accountability). Not sure if that's standard practice for other franchises' characters or if that's something Lucasfilm/Disney hashed out.

As mentioned above, it does not look like that's the case here, it's just part of some advertisement ahead of the release of The Lost Metal.

Brandon and Peter are usually open to sharing numbers on book sales after a significant event, and they may share numbers once this crossover has come all the way out and had a chance to percolate.
