Looking at the current state of Roshar, from an outsider perspective like say Kriss, things are pretty dandy. Why? Because worst case scenario Mr. T will not destroy Roshar or it’s various peoples. He sees himself as a savior after all. It does not appear that he has any reason to support the singers taking back Roshar, and he doesn’t want to just kill citizens in droves. Thus unless you’re a main character in the Stormlight Archive, your life got exponentially better when Rayse died. Please tell me why I’m wrong :)

edit: meant for this to be in General Thoughts and don’t know how to move it

Taravangium wants to turn Roshar into a training ground for his future war to [something] the Cosmere (I think he'd say "save" it but I have concerns), which doesn't actually sound all that pleasant. Nor do his plans for after that's done. Like, okay, most people probably won't be pressed into active service ... but what if some of the other Shards invade Roshar? And living in some sort of endless crucible of war sounds like a dismal experience.

I guess it's better than when Rayse was Odium, but not better than when Odium was unable to do anything at all. And if you live in Alethkar or Herdaz, you might be upset that those places don't exist anymore.

They already live in a world of endless wars so net even worst case. And if Dalinar wins the contest those people will have their homelands back same as if Rayse was still around.

Muchos gracias. And yeah I’m not saying the current people feel that way because they didn’t know about the desolations all that well and what not, but roshar tourists are prolly happy

Taravangian never once gave a thought to singers. You think he suddenly will now that he holds Odium?

Humans are fine. The story will now switch to humans fighting against other humans on behalf of singers. And singers fighting singers and humans due to inertia and Odium's influence.

T instantly was given all of Rayse's long term plans. And we all know he had some major millennia long plans in the works involving multiple shards. I see T looking at the long term goal of protecting Roshar from everybody trying to take advantage of the free, loose investiture.

That long term goal might mean working towards a coalition....but under T's terms. And we all know T and Dalinar differ on opinions on how to rule. I see that as the back 5 main arc...T wanting to prepare Roshar one way, while Dalinar is set on a different way.
