The Survivor smirked. “Yes.”

"Is there an even number by any chance?" she was still theorizing, but she felt like she was onto something.

“You actually do have enough to give an educated guess,” he noted. “So work things out - then tell us what you come up with.”

"Well, my theory... it depends on there being an even number." She referenced her notes, and pushed the notebook over to Kelsier. "If you look at my diagrams and notes, you can see that Allomancy and Feruchemy are fairly well balanced. I'm assuming that Hemalurgy is the same way, but I can't be sure." she then pointed to one point in particular. "Ruin and Preservation are complete opposites, right? Well, if there is an even number of shards, they should all balance each other out." She pointed to another part of her notebook. "If that is true, I think that there might be 16. It makes sense. Look at the Allomantic metals!" She was getting extremely excited. "There are internal metals and external metals, Pushing metals and pulling metals, as well as groups that they are all grouped in!" Her eyes were bright, and she seemed very happy. "I could be extremely wrong, but it would make so much sense!"

This is her thing. She has been creating reasonable, logical theories sense she was a kid. It's why she always carries notebooks around, and why she is so protective of them.

“I don’t mind.” Kelsier smiled fondly at Zola. “It’s good to be curious. We’re all Connected to everything and everyone. You to Ganache, Ganache to me, me to you. To our pasts, presents, and futures. It’s what makes us us. And part of that is Connection to our planet, Scadrial.

”Saze and I are more Connected to Scadrial than you because of the nature of what we are. He’s a Shard and I used to be one. Still am, a little. Your Connection is weaker so you can leave more easily than I. And Saze would have an even harder time leaving, because he’s woven into everything on the planet.”

Zola nodded... and kept nodding. That was interesting, she supposed. But she didn't get most of it. She started eating Kell's bread as Ladashwy talked.

Ladashwy noticed Zola, and deflated slightly. She looked at the other people at the table sheepishly, and calmed down. Her theory was probably wrong, so she shouldn't be getting so excited over it. Embarrassed, she started eating her stew. I probably looked like an idiot, rambling about nonsense. My theory was a bit far-fetched. I should have just kept my mouth shut. No one wants to hear me ramble on about my stupid theories anyway.

The Survivor laughed. “There are sixteen. Although they aren’t perfectly opposing pairs. Ruin and Preservation were unusual for that. And we Scadrians are unusual for having our number match the Cosmere’s. And for other reasons too.”

He snagged a piece of Zola’s cheese, grinning playfully at the girl. “We’re boring you, aren’t we?”

She brightened slightly again, and wrote that down. I guess it wasn't so far fetched after all. "Well, the Feruchemical metals don't quite match up either. However, they seem to match up enough to create a pattern." She explained. She had actually had the matching metals theory for a while, and had even shown it to experienced scholars and they had ignored it, so she was used to having to explain her theories to others.

“That’s what Khriss calls it,” Kelsier confirmed, “and she’s usually a good reference.”

Eryn smiled at Zola. “Are polite,” she noted. “But can talk to. Many things to talk of.”

Kelsier nodded. “I’m here to meet you, Zola. This is your time. We may be thieves, but you don’t have to let Sage steal it.”

Khriss? Who the rusts is that?

Ladashwy sunk down slightly, once again embarrassed.

Ladashwy grimaced. Let's NOT talk about that... I don't want to explain my passing out. She sighed. "That's unimportant right now." she mumbled.

Kelsier blithely ignored the Sage’s mumblings. “Oh, we met earlier today. She was taking a nap at a bar.”

Marie frowned at her. "Pointing at someone with a knife is an entirely different thing from killing them. Do you know what death is?"

"Ignoring half of what I just said I see." She threw a key to her "Anyway, you've got a room"

Adilie then went search for where the other had gone to eat

“You may,” Kelsier grinned, “but I’m not promising to answer.” He swiped a piece of bread along the bottom of Zola’s bowl, then popped it in his mouth.

She already finished her stew. :P I said it a little while ago. Last night, that is.

"So why do I have the powers?"

Let’s say he swiped it along the bottom of the bowl then.

“Remember those Connections? The ones that make up you say you were born a little closer to the Preservation part of Harmony than most. That’s what makes you an Allomancer.”

Adillie walked into the room the others were eating, well had eaten they seemed nearly finished. There was a man with them that kind of fitted the descriptions of the Survivor

"Hello, I assume you're Eryn's friend?"
