Hey y'all!

So I was recently thinking about how Nale killed a few radiants using Nightblood. Now, we know that Nightblood consumes investiture indiscriminately, so I was curious about the effect that Nightblood would have on the spren of a radiant that it killed.

We see from Nightblood that when he even pricks a person, that is enough to allow him to consume the investiture that is that person entirely, we also know that the Nahel bond is very intimate, the spren and human that are bonded have their spirits intimately tied together, so I am wondering if Nightblood has an affect on the spren themselves as well.

Are there any WOB's on this?

I do not recall Nale ever doing such a thing.  However...

If Nightblood were in the cognitive realm and was used to stab a bead that was the cognitive representation of a castle, would the castle be destroyed in the Physical Realm?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

If you could get Nightblood into the Cognitive Realm, then yes.

Hoiditthroughthegrapevine (paraphrased)

What would happen to people who were in the castle at the time?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

They wouldn't be affected (other than possibly plummeting to their death).

Hoiditthroughthegrapevine (paraphrased)

How about a carpet that had been in the castle for 50 years?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

No, 50 years most likely wouldn't be enough time.

Hoiditthroughthegrapevine (paraphrased)

Is this like the "Ship of Theseus?"

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Yes

Oathbringer Portland signing (Nov. 16, 2017)

It is possible that they both would die.  It may depend on how many oaths the radiant has sworn.

I'll try answering your question, comrade:

If Nightblood hits a spren, the spren will be destroyed/consumed(spren are Investiture)

If Nightblood hits a KR, they are destroyed and I believe there would be serious side effects for their spren, but maybe not death. There's this quote from Syl: "We don’t sleep; we don’t eat. I think we might feed off humans, actually. Your emotions. Or you thinking about us, maybe. It all seems very complicated. In Shadesmar, we can think on our own, but if we go to your realm, we need a human bond. Otherwise, we’re practically as mindless as those gloryspren." I personally would agree with @Karger, it would depend on the amount of oaths, and power of oaths, sworn. Essentially, if the person and spren are one Cognitive being, which could probably be achieved through time and oaths, I believe that Nightblood would destroy all of the KR(Spren and Radiant).

If Nightblood doesn't kill the spren too, it'll probably do that thing the spren call "killing" because they've never been destroyed before.

Smiley face for a longish post :)
