Coup is a great game. The Resistance by the same people is also really good, but Coup is a game we can play with family, where Resistance is a bit too much for some of them.

My favourite board games are:

Battlestar Galactica, Galaxy Trucker, and Robo Rally (which I play with the 2016 mechanics but the 2005 boards).

Oh, I've often heard about Resistance but never had a chance to play. Sounds cool.

I absolutely love Coup, its the card game that actually got be hooked on board/card games. Some of my personal favorites are Codenames, 7 Wonders, Catan, Blockus, Splendor and Avalon.

Best board games : Power Grid, Dix-It, Catan, Splendor, Codenames, Call to Adventure - Stormlight Archive, Munchkin, Kingdomino, and finally any self invented board game involving lego.

I agree with the sibling. Board games you invent made of lego with sniper cows and sheep with orcs mounted on their back are the best.

Out of these, I've only played Catan, which nowadays is too simple for my taste. 

Terraforming Mars, Dune: Imperium Uprising, the Bios: Earth Trilogy.

Risk, Monopoly, and Life are some really good ones,

I also enjoy playing Mafia and inventing my own card game rules
