"Excuse you, let? That implies that he could stop me if he wanted to."

Pior cracked his fingers. "Oh he won't need to lift a finger, I could take ya on my own if I wanted to. I just don't wanna quite yet."

"You could try," laughed Concerto. "I doubt you could stop me. Perhaps if Chorale - her powers under her full control, of course - wanted to keep me here, she could. There's a reason I was the leader of the Amal at so young."

"And yet, I got this distinct memory of one of us running from an organization that one of us here (not naming names) is claiming that they ran easily based on their physical prowess. Then again, all I do is wait for people to pay me to hit things, so what do I know?"

Concerto grinned. "That's exactly right. What do you know?"

"Probably two things total, one of them being that you amal are all the same. The other being that Liquor solves most problems."

Pior gave Concerto a cheeky smile.

"I'm guessing at least two people here would take offense about that first thing, and I can't say anything about the other one."

Concerto reeled back, he hadn't been expecting that. He recovered quickly, though, and grinned at Aerith. "Just couldn't resist, could you?" He wiped aside a trickle of blood.

"There's more where that came from."

"And I bet you can't wait to dish it out. Well, I'd leave but I find myself second-guessing. Obviously it would be better for Chorale if I stayed, but this tells me that it would be better for me if I didn't. Sister, you sure you want to stay with these guys? Sister?"

Chorale had closed her eyes and wore a tight smile on her face, held there almost as if by reflex. Her hands stayed strictly by her sides, though, and her feet seemed rooted to the ground, so it probably wasn't all that bad.

Aerith frowned. "Uhmm... kid?"

"Gee, it's almost like that was the idea. I wouldn't know though, I just cut and stab things. I also do free demonstrations."

Vivace opened her eyes and smiled. "Sorry, just one moment. Vivace's got a couple of questions."

No, that wasn't a mistake. Vivace's going to try to masquerade as Chorale.

Concerto shrugged. "We'll fix it later. And I think I'll have to pass on that free demonstration, thanks. So, I never got your name."

"Call him Hot eyes, he prefers that."

"Sorry, must have forgotten. I have a hard time remembering inconsequential people."

"Now I'm hurt, I risk my life to help ol' hot eyes to free the love of his life and I'm only a background character in the story?" Pior turned towards Aerith and said, "wait, does that mean I'm your sidekick?"

Vivace opened her eyes. "Wait, the love of his life?" She started laughing. "He's got to be, like, double my age!"

'You should have seen him when he came to me. He was falling all over the table in grief yelling "woe is me, they have her locked up!" It was so moving that I physically couldn't say no to that pouting face."

As Pior briefly tells his story, he provides a short and overdramatic reenactment before nearly collapsing with laughter.

"I sincerely doubt it," said Vivace, although the reenactment had been rather funny.

Concerto considered something for a moment, then discarded it.

Pior kept going with his reenactment, taking on an overdramatic tone of voice as he impersonated Aerith.

"Then he started to get on his knees with tears streaming down his face he looked at me in my own eyes and said, "please, she means everything to me. Take all of my gold, take my livelihood, take everything, but please help me save her. I will surely die if I can't have her with me again. I can only imagine what terrible and dark things they are doing to her, and I-" Pior cut himself off before straightening himself up. "I'm getting the feeling that I took it a bit too far, and I'm normally the last guy who feels that."

"I'd kinda prefer if we just killed him right here and now, but I'm a nice person, so I don't think we will."

Aerith looked around at everybody, eyebrows held high with a mixture of skepticism and amusement. "Oookay."
