Kuno stroked his shaved chin thoughtfully as he dismissed the Fox Amal, Arminio simply sat and watched the fire burn in the small hearth. Escalation, far too much escalation. On its own, escalation could be handled, but this time it came shrouded in mystery, and that was an issue in and of itself. If things would only slow down, then Kuno could take the time to put everything in its proper order so that he might be able to win easily in the conflicts to come. Unfortunately, time wore on, and it would always do so. With this being the case, Kuno resigned himself to believing that a good plan deployed now would be better than a perfect plan deployed later.

"Arminio, it seems that I was right about calling Ghost Division into complete active duty, if only I had that thought months ago."

As we speak, the Chapters are mobilizing into a defensive state. I believe that your timing is right.

"Even so, I need more information on this, otherwise our move will be unwieldy and unfocused. How soon can we have the Chosen here?"

They will be mobilized and deployed here in a matter of days, that will give this new mayor time to properly set up his own Chapter.

Kuno nodded. "Then do we have an ETA on Ghost Division?"

A few minutes.

Kuno raised an eyebrow. "Did he come here with you."

Ask him yourself.

Thanks. And now... timeskip!!!

Vivace pushed her way through the underbrush and into a small clearing. At the other end was a cave. It didn't have many - or any - comforts, but it was a good place to hide. "Well, we're here."

Concerto followed her into the clearing. "Oh joy, it looks wonderful."

"It's what we've got. There's a spring that way," here she pointed west of the cave, "and foraging shouldn't be hard."

Aerith sat down without a word.

Vivace looked at him. "Well, I suppose I owe her this much," she muttered. "You! Um, Aerith, was it? I guess I kind of owe you an apology. I said you wouldn't come, but Chorale said you would. And you did. So, sorry and thanks."

"You're sure you can't... let her out?" Aerith asked. "Find some kind of balance with her?"

"If she were trying to take over right now, maybe. But with her brother around, she'd just try to take control like I just did. It's kill or be killed, and I'm not going down without a fight."

"Honestly, I didn't expect you to." Vivace walked over and sat just inside the cave. That... that was good of you, came a voice from inside her. Thanks. Yeah, well, it felt like the right thing to do.

He turned around, back to everyone else.

Concerto looked around a little more carefully. It wasn't really a bad place for its size. Good hiding spot, water and fresh forage, and best of all, a cave.

Pior looked around the entire area quite thoroughly before settling down close to Aerith.

"We did all of that for her? She must mean a lot to you Hot eyes, cause I don't see much in her."

"That's not Chorale." Aerith said. "They forced her to transform into an Amal... and worst of all, they threatened me to make her do it. Had I never met the kid, none of this would've happened."

Pior nodded as he considered this.

"Suppose that's true. Also would mean that I wouldn't be involved; I'd probably be back at that crummy tavern getting wasted again. Yeah, things got pretty bad when you got involved. The only way that it could get worst is if those amal buffoons back at that base or camp or whatever decided to actually do something. There were quite a lot there, they could do a lot of damage if they wanted to."

"They almost definitely let us go. They had a plan, and we need to--" he stopped himelf, "no... not now. Not going to worry about it right now; and not just because you always berate me for strategizing late at night."

Pior gave Aerith a worried look.

"If you say so, I'm all for sleeping on it."

She is.

"What I'm trying to say is that I wasn't just about ready to move onto logistical things. We were having a bit of a moment, there. I don't usually have those things."
