"No, actually; we both know that I've led you wrong a great many times."

Pior scuffed.

"Like you need to remind me, I still can't lie down straight after that."

"Serves you right."

"If I recall, it was your idea to try and flank them. I just happened to be the unlucky idiot standing next to you when you had that epiphany."

"Had you actually turned around to face them like I told you to, that wouldn't have happened!"

"They were Amal for the Mother's sake, they could sneak up on anyone!"

"They didn't sneak up on me! I told you 'Pior, behind you!' and then you proceeded to, you know, not turn around."

"Oh I see, I was supposed to forget about the behemoth of a man that stood in front of me trying very hard to get me impaled and look to see what by the Mother our trusty Fire Eyes saw behind me!"

Aerith sighed. "I'm not having this argument. What's taking Yain?"

Kuno made his way amongst the streets of the town. Things had begun to calm down, that is to say, the people weren't trying to kill anyone who might be an ally of the Amal. It was always unnerving when mobs gathered, they rarely acted wisely, and they had a tendency to be radical, especially when it comes to killing. Catorphia was close behind Kuno as usual, and her brother was looking for a new target. Kuno just wanted to be sure that the town wouldn't fall to another mod after he left. Although he had to admit that the Youth was doing a fine job at controlling the masses. Kuno turned left at the next cross roads.

Borodin closed the door behind him, making sure to bolt it behind him. He looked cautiously looked around, then strolled into the town, trying to act natural. He walked for a few minutes, then realized how stiff he was being. Relax! he told himself. No one can ever be suspicious of you. Or else- he stopped himself before he lost his cool. However, after a few minutes, the thoughts returned. They're all staring, watching you. Watching, waiting, wondering. Everyone knows. Everyone knows everything. They're only waiting for you to make a mistake, waiting for you to reveal to everyone that you are- "Shut up!" he yelled in his mind. He tried to stay focused on his mission. He repeated it in his head: Get to the mayor. Collect information. Then leave without attracting any attention. Seemed simple enough, but Borodin had struggled with simple tasks in the past. He struggled with himself, trying to keep his emotions in check. He remained engrossed by his thoughts until he ran into a man while turning the corner. "Sorry," he said as quickly as possible, then tried to make his way past the man.

Isn't Val at this conversation?

Oh yeah

Valerie watched from behind Aerith. "So who exactly is this?" she asked.

Kuno neatly stepped back as the other man around the corner, although Catorphia was quicker to react. Catorphia moved swiftly to stand between Kuno and the newcomer, watching him with eyes full of suspicion. It was Kuno that spoke.

"Oh, might want to watch where you're going better than that friend, wouldn't want to run over somebody."

Borodin began to panic, and his hands began to sweat. "I'm sorry sir, but I'm in a hurry! Please, just let me pass. I don't want any trouble." As he spoke, a loose paper began to make its way out of Borodin's pocket and into the open air.

"Old friend from the military," Aerith frowned, "or, rather, an old pain in the saddlesitter from the military."

Pior gave Val a smile.

"We got along famously in case you couldn't tell. If I were you, I'd watch myself around this guy, has a tendency to not watch where he's leading very well."

"No harm done friend, I'd just like to know where you're off to in such a hurry."

Borodin froze for a minute, trying to think. After waiting a few seconds too long, he blurted out the truth: "I'm going to see the mayor." He tried once more to make his way past the man and his accomplice.

"While that may be partially true, half that scar came from you not following orders."
