My father was a farmer. He worked hard in the fields and was always so tired by his work that he never really got to be with us. My mom was devastated when he died. Somehow, she still loved him. When she left, I couldn't stand being alone with my older brother always doing the hard work my father and he had. He was wearing himself out just trying. So I left too. Decided to find another way to live, and hoped my brother would be smart enough to find something else as well."

My mom would tell me that he was a great person, even going so far to say that he had been killed rather than just having left. She never remarried or adopted any other kids, so I was her only son. She told me the truth before I went to do the Trials of Fyre, and..." Leonas took a shaky breath. "I was a mess."
