Condensation she/her Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 This thread is for dancers. It doesn't matter what kind of dancing you do as long as it's good dancing, otherwise we'd get everyone on here. I do basically everything. Ballroom, ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, you name it. I've even learned some from other countries that I can't remember the names of. I really like dancing, it makes me feel better. That's why I started this topic! Tell me about your dancing style, how long you've been dancing, just about everything. I'm glad to hear it!
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I love dancing! But I’m a terrible dancer. . . . I just can’t get any rhythms right. And I’m always off-beat. I love music and dancing though.
DramaQueen she/he/neopronouns Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I'm not very good at dancing, but I do dance in theatre.
Mat he/him Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I typically don't dance but I have a nice dancing story... Heh. At my (old) middle school, one of the PE units was dancing. We learned about basic steps and line dances and stuff like that. It never seems like it'll be fun- but basically you can just hang out with your friends the whole time during when we did the line dances (of course, you do actually do them) but it was the equivalent of getting to chose your own seats. Then, at the end of the unit, you make a group of up to 5 members and pick a song, and choreograph a dance for it, then all the groups perform it for the whole grade at the end of the unit. Most classes picked a meme song a did a ten second thing. That's no fun. Me and my friends- no, we did it to 'Earfquake' by Tyler the Creator (clean version, obviously) which isn't too bad of a song with the curse words taken out. Here's a link, if you care And we choreographed a dance for the entire 3 minute song. It was pretty much the greatest, with exaggerated movements, and all manner of swag moves. We even wore sunglasses and hoodies as props, and were still-faced the whole time. My friends and I are like the nerds in our grade, so considering the lyrics of the song it was pretty ironic. We got thunderous applause and everything. It was probably the best day of 8th grade, for me. Then school was cancelled, and COVID. Yay.
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 That’s pretty cool @Matrim's Dice. We don’t have a dancing unit for PE in middle school.
Experience he/him Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I really wish that I was better at dancing, especially swing dancing, and hopefully I will eventually but I still like to dance.
Condensation she/her Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Most people my age don't dance because it's 'embarrassing' or whatever, so I'm usually the only one on the dance floor unless I dragged my friends. Anyone else have this experience? Are you the friends who were dragged onto the floor by your friend?
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Yeah, especially because I am a boy. Everyone thinks they are too cool.
Condensation she/her Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Y'know, I hope if my friend group on the Shard ever gets together with a party or something that there are a lot of dancers.
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 That would be awesome! But I don’t think everyone could meet up somewhere. . . It would be great though.
Condensation she/her Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 Maybe not everyone per se, but those of us who live within a certain area.
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Yeah, that would be fun.
Condensation she/her Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 So, does anyone else do ballroom dance?
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Nope! I would like to learn, though.
Condensation she/her Posted September 7, 2020 Author Posted September 7, 2020 I enjoy it. I'd teach you if I ever met you and it was on our minds.
Condensation she/her Posted September 8, 2020 Author Posted September 8, 2020 No problem. If I have knowledge that you would like to have, I will of course share the knowledge. I'm not that mean.
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Haha. Thanks. I don’t know if I’d be food though. . . I’m not a very good dancer, but I have enthusiasm! Yay for originality! Quote Did you get my quote?
Condensation she/her Posted September 8, 2020 Author Posted September 8, 2020 I feel like I should get the quote, but I don't. Enthusiasm is great!
