How do you think Dreamer would intersect with Investiture?

Would they just be like Cognitive Shadows? Would a Shardblade kill them for good? Would they even have a Spiritual aspect anymore or would they be purely Cognitive?

How about... Spiritual DNA viruses! I don't think something could exist in the Cosmere without a Spiritual presence, so not purely Cognitive Shadows. They would be kind of like the Fused but freer and less powerful. A Shardblade should be able to affect them same as any.

It feels almost like a missed opportunity. Dreamer is well-suited to being set in the Cosmere.

Yeah, makes sense. And I agree - if he’d dropped it into late Scadrial, I feel like it would all still fit. The body-stealing might have implications he wouldn’t want to put into the cosmere, though.
