HalfPint Hobgoblin he/him Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 So I was rereading WOK in preparation for November and I came across an interesting line from Mr. T “Sometimes I wonder if the Lifebrother himself sent you to me.” Do we know anything about the Lifebrother? Because that sounds an awful lot like a strong contender for the name of “The Sibling”. It fits the naming scheme. Stormfather, Nightwatcher, and Lifebrother. They seem to go well together. Plus you know “brother” and “Sibling”. It just seems perfect to me. 2

It just goes by title.
+Child of Hodor Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Nice catch! It seems to be a Shinovar religious reference. He's showing off to Szeth by using Shin terms. We know almost nothing about their religion other than the Shin worship the spirits of the stone. I have a theory that the Sibling is the one referred to as "God of the Mountains" in the Horneater Peaks creation myth that Rock tells in WoR. If the Sibling is associated with Mountains, rocks, stones then the Shin would revere The Sibling. Lifebrother may be their word for them. The Sibling has been "slumbering" for thousands of years, the Shin may have forgotten what the Sibling is officially called. They don't have a name or gender. 3

That definitely makes a lot of sense to me. Lifebrother could be the shin name for the god of the mountains. And since we know the Sibling is connected to Urithiru (which is in the freaking mountains) it’s pretty feasible to me that they are the same figure
Honorless he/him Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Seen a few threads on that possibility before I think those are different entities. Lifebrother could be a Vorin or Shin figure. The Sibling is gender neutral Quote UppityDarkeyes Would you be willing to confirm that the use of 'they' pronouns for the Sibling is because the Sibling is non-binary? Since apparently some people are confused on this point. Brandon Sanderson The sibling did not view themselves as male or female. (And considered it odd that so many spren would adopt human genders.) Brgst13 Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 (edited) Interesting WoB. I am starting to suspect that the Sibling is either malen or femalen, which would make it a Parshendi spren. We know from Syl that some of the oldest spren have four genders. Is it possible that the Sibling was hurt by whatever Melishi did to end the False Desolation, and withdrew from Urithiru following that act? Crazy tinfoil hat theory: the Sibling and Bo-Ado-Mishram are both Godspren in Parshendi non-mateform genders. This would make four Godspren to correspond with each of the four Parshendi genders. The Sibling was bonded to Melishi when he imprisoned Bo-Ado-Mishram, and he bound the Sibling to keep Bo-Ado-Mishram captive. Edited August 4, 2020 by Brgst13 2
