is Sadeas a Willshaper? Is he the uncut gem? Right after it talks about the Willshapers as uncut gems and how other orders dislike them:

"And now, if there was an uncut gem among the Radiants, it was the Willshapers; for though enterprising, they were erratic, and Invia wrote of them, "capricious, frustrating, unreliable," as taking it for granted that others would agree; this may have been an intolerant view, as often Invia expressed, for this order was said to be most varied, inconsistent in temperament save for a general love of adventure, novelty, or oddity.
—From Words of Radiance, chapter 7, page 1"

It's followed by a scene where Sadeas asks Adolin if he likes his new coat with "uncut gems".  Sadeas seeks constant adventure/novelty/oddity. He is unlikeable and unreliable.

Other people have said that that chapter is mostly about Adolin and maybe that is describing him. I also found info about the Willshapers from the Coppermind website:  "The Ideals of the Order of Willshapers all focus on individual freedom and liberty; the Willshapers champion self-expression and freedom of choice for all." So maybe not a good fit for Sadeas?

What do you think?

A Highprince who used literal slave labor to run bridges for his army is one of the least Willshaper-like things that I can imagine.

Also he's dead.

No. Primary goal of Willshapers is  "I will seek freedom" and Sadeas is everything oposed to this. He seeks power and want to rule over everybody.

If any Highprince is Willshaper, it will be Sebarial. He is doing everything in his own way, dont care about traditions or protocoles. He also dont care about war and fighting, he likes to build and trade, exactly like Willshaper. He also sometimes adopts some in need, and give them freedom.

@HonorlessWhoops, thank you.  That was very honorable!

I'm pretty sure it is confirmed that Sadeas wasn't a radiant.  If he was, i'm not sure I'd paint him as a willshaper though.

The uncut gems were more to taunt Adolin because he was going on unauthorized chasmfiend hunts and flaunting the gems he gained.

No, in the sense that he was not a member of the Willshapers order and probably never would have become one.

Yes, in the sense that he seems to have the right temperament for it.  Seeking freedom and holding slaves are not mutually exclusive.  Think about Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy that essentially each person's goal should be to take what they want for themselves.  So long as slavery isn't hereditary (which I don't think it is in Alethkar) then I think Sadeas still squares with a Willshaper and the value of seeking freedom.  Those slaves were able to seek freedom, but weren't able to find it.

Sadeas also seemed to be against things like banding together, higher authority, etc.  He was all about every man for himself, which again is an expression of freedom.
