"An alliance would be nice." Fadran moved to shake his hand.

Crispin took the hand and shook it. "I'm glad. So...we can transport our army in and out of the barrier. Is there anything else you would like for us to do? We're a force of high trained, elite soldiers from all fields, thirty thousand strong. We've recruited from various worlds so that we can expand our strengths. Basically, we'll probably recruit more people as we go out, but we can do pretty much anything."

Crispin made a barely perceivable gesture with his hand, and then tapped it in a pattern against his side. Within moments, a dozen gateways opened and the Lashai streamed forth out of them. Once everyone was out, the mages closed the portals. "So, this is my army. Say hi, guys." Some thirty thousand hands waved. "I'm close to the leaders of the other organizations Maros mentioned, so I can get them as well if need be."

"Wow," said Lane nonchalantly, "They act as if you have complete control over them. Impressive."

"No. Just respect, I think. We fought for our freedom together and bonded together over the course of many more wars all over. I got elected." He shrugged. "I'm just their representative and general."

"There is. They're just well trained." Crispin laughed. "You should seen Zaveros." From the ranks, a voice shouted out "Don't talk about Zaveros!" A collective shudder ran through the ranks, and there was the sound of bottles clinking.

Lane blinked. "Did they bring bottles with them?"

"Of course. It's an army. I think that the latest drinking game is that every time I mention Zaveros-" bottles clinked. "-they drink a shot."

Lane's eyes lit up. "Think of how drunk you could make them."

"That was Zaveros. Thirty thousand men, sent as the last line of defense to two small countries on one small island, drunk as skunks after their victory." He shook his head. As usual, at the "Zaveros," bottles could be heard. "Actually, I think it's a bottle a team in the field, and up to two cases a squad during r 'n' r.

A complete silence fell over the everyone. Crispin thought a while before answering. "Too many. A load of some of the most decent men and women I've ever seen in my life. I don't care to count anymore. Too much for anyone."
