"Thanks! You're good too." She said happily. Her face then reddened again. "And, uh, sorry for biting you." She said her face was bright red. "I had a flashback of a time someone grabbed me as a child. I bit the person, and was able to get away. It was a good thing too, as that person was practicing the Jeskeri Mysteries..." She shuddered. "That would not have gone well." She was, at that point, distracted. She had gotten a bit lost in thought. She then stood up. "Honestly though, you don't grab at an awakener." She said with a grin. "Especially if they are an enemy. We awakeners have more options when fighting enemies. Including strangling people with their own clothing."

"Sorry I did that, then.  And thanks for the tip.  I'm not going out by my own jacket sleeves."  He frowns.  How is he supposed to fight if he doesn't get close enough for an Awakener to do that?

"In case you're wondering how to fight without getting close enough for an Awakener to do that, I think I might have a couple solutions for you."

"Same. Use aluminum weapons."

"Tips would be welcome."

"Aluminum?"  Interesting.  He knows of weapons with aluminum alloys, but he doesn't use them a lot.  Steel is still more common.

"Yeah." She paused. "Aluminum! That's it!" She said excitedly. She then rushed to the nearest tree, and started hacking branches off of it. If I can soulcast aluminum weapons, we can use them against the Dakhor Monks!

"Uhh... yeah. That or... wait until they tire themselves out and slam headfirst into the ground?"

"Well, that's always a possibility," Martin says, watching Camille as she cuts branches off the trees.  "Or maybe ranged weapons?"

can I just say that I am very impressed this thread is still going strong

according to all facts and logic it should’ve died like 100+ pages ago

and yet

Here you are

I said a few months ago that I was surprised it had lasted that long because It was basically impromptu, less-organized alleyverse. It had literally no base idea or format or planned plot, or literally anything.

it has not gained any of those things

and yet it still lives

good job.

"Mmm, yes, aluminum. I totally know why that's important," says Zlatt.

"She's only a little obsessed with the stuff. I'm sure it's not unhealthy."

"Well, if it works against Awakeners, I can kind of see the appeal."  Martin rubs his leg where Camille had bitten him.

Camelia started cutting the branches into weapons. She started making swords, spears, and knives. This is going to take a while. It'll be worth it though.

Um... why in the world would soulcasting be able to make aluminum of all things?

So says the Coppermind:

It's also possible that the only way to obtain aluminium natively on Roshar is through soulcasting, as there are a few soulcasters capable of creating aluminum.[43][44][45]

Is it...

I mean, she can't overuse it, or she will start to, you know...

Become a savant.

Coppermind:

Long-term use of Soulcasting, whether via Surgebinding or a fabrial, can lead to the user becoming a savant, transforming slowly into the essence they frequently transform other objects into.[46]

Well, according to the Coppermind...

Some Soulcaster ardents on the Shattered Plains developed crystalline eyes and stone-like skin with cracks.[21] Another ardent in Kholinar appears as if there are vines growing under her skin and poking out from her eyes.[48] Kaza is slowly becoming smoke in places, to the point where she has a hole in her cheek leaking smoke. Her hair, ears and fingers have also started to transform. The personality of the Soulcaster might also be affected, as Kaza feels drawn to become smoke with the objects she transforms, and begins to lose normal human emotional responses.[20]

It's kinda terrifying, but hey! She doesn't seem to care. Yet.

"Ayia," Martin suddenly asks.  "Are there any substances besides aluminum that are immune to Awakening?"

Quote

I just realized that Martin probably says aluminum as al-lu-min-ium and not al-lu-minum.  Ugh.

Also, dang it, meant to tag, completely forgot.

"I thought you knew about this kind of - "  Something flares across the point at the back of his skull.  Loud.  He shifts to parade rest as his vision goes white.
