I’m curious about what your criteria for the characters from The Silmarillion was. They’re the only ones I’m familiar with.

Windrunner was the hardest, but Cirdan is the longest-lasting non-isolationist leader in Beleriand, so there's Leading and Protecting.

Mandos is in many ways like Nale, a near-emotionless arbiter handing down Judgement.

Dustbringer spren, ah, seem to be less morally discriminating (see: Malata); Feanor is super-passionate and already fire-themed.

Luthien is really good with illusions. And moving Mandos to tears requires one heckuva Performance check, so to speak.

Olorin is said to be the most subtle maia, going around invisibly giving people hope and courage. He seems to be all about the small things.

Galadriel is an enigmatic seer.

Celebrimbor is a nerd- er, a genius scholar-inventor who establishes a whole university city.

Aredhel is a restless wanderer.

Hurin last-standed so hard his freakin' axe melted, and then he was tortured by Morgoth himself for seventy years without giving in.

Finrod just... gets along. With everyone. Friend of Men, Friend of Dwarves, Friend of Every Elf Not Named Curufin or Celegorm.

I disagree. Maedhros is certainly more diplomatic than his brothers, and he did gather his eponymous Union- but then he led two more Kinslayings. He did not fall and then rise a better man; he fell and fell and continued falling, until he literally jumped to his death.

He kind of held the elf-folk together for the entire Siege of Angband, at least four centuries. This was after the first kinslaying. Also his brothers lead the second and third Kinslayings  not him. I will admit he failed at the end, but so did the Stormfathers last radiant so I say that that's not a total disqualifier.

Ah, much better.

Spoiler

Not that Thor wouldn’t make a good Dustbringers, but c’mon, it’s such a good opportunity, especially since Belkar doesn’t fit anywhere else in the list. I mean, Dustbringers break stuff, and Belkar just likes to break everything as long as they happen to be living creatures.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:  Stannis Baratheon from A Song of Ice and Fire would be an amazing Skybreaker.

I could also see him as a Stoneward, based on the little we know of them.
