Bluest she/her Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 Ash smiled. "Yes. Is everything okay? I didn't actually think you would call."
King Aragorn of Gondor Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 "Well, neither did I." Lynn said, then hesitated, she needed to continue. "Did you really mean what you said back there, to the dwarf and the human?" @Bluest
Bluest she/her Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 "Of course I did," Ash replied. "I'm not in the habit of saying things that aren't true. If you have to say something, might as well make it count. Right?" @Aragorn
King Aragorn of Gondor Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 (edited) "Right, well, I may need somewhere to hole up for a while, I was just kicked out of my hotel room." She sighed, "Any recommendations?" There it was, out there, yes, she, revered as an evil fae in most people's eyes, needed help. @Bluest Edited March 17, 2020 by Aragorn
Bluest she/her Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 Ash smiled. She was glad Lynn felt she could trust her. "Yeah. I have a place you can stay, but you might not be so comfortable there. See, I live at the palace as one of the official faerie guardians. At least, I'll be official as soon as I finish my training. If you want to come live there, I'm sure there's an extra guest room for you to live at. It's fine if you don't want to though." Ash wondered if Lynn would actually agree. She seemed to be uncomfortable around new people, and the palace was full of them. @Aragorn
King Aragorn of Gondor Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Lynn rubbed her face, why?, why'd it have to be there? Well, seeing as it was this, or go back to her hometown, she'd take this any day. She let out a sigh, "I'll take it, Thanks." She could do this, right? I mean, she only had to withstand it for two weeks, and she had heard that the palace had a lovely garden and forested area. "I'll head over there as soon as possible, Thank you again." She looked back at Allie. @Bluest @WrathofaShardKitten
Bluest she/her Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 "Great," Ash said. It really was great. Ash wanted to help Lynn as much as she could and this was the first step. "I'll head over there now name make some preparations. Bye." Ash hung up.
King Aragorn of Gondor Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Lynn glanced at Allie, not sure what to say, had she heard their conversation? @WrathofaShardKitten
old man moomba he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Maggie sighed, extricating herself from the driver’s seat and getting out of the truck. Her nerves were still buzzing from the heist, and she needed to calm down. “I’m going out!” she called to the others, who were unloading the truck. Brandon nodded, watching Kevin and James toss the bags of cash out while he talked on his phone. “Alright got it, I’ll tell the others.” Brandon hung up and waved Maggie over. “Before you go, boss says he met some people today, and he wants us to keep a lookout for them.” Maggie nodded, and Brandon gave her several descriptions. “He said to call if you see any of them.” Maggie nodded again, already walking away. She grabbed her car keys off of a crate, spinning them around a finger. Three fae, all on the same day, all in the same place. And Reamas had met them all. She shook her head as she opened the warehouse door and walked out, where her car was parked. She drove off, nowhere in particular; she was just trying to clear her head. After maybe half an hour driving aimlessly around the city, taking in the people and buildings, she felt quite a bit better. As she was driving back to the warehouse, she spotted two girls talking, one with somewhat conspicuous raven wings, which matched Reamas’s description. “What’re the chances.” Maggie muttered, pulling over to the side of the road. Before she actually got out, she quickly checked the handguns she wore openly on her belt. Subtlety wasn’t worth anything when you were 5’6, and Maggie found people underestimating her boring. She got out of the car, walking around the hood slowly. “I know you. My boss gave me your description not half an hour ago.” she said in the winged one’s direction. She smirked almost wolfishly, then again, everything she did could have ‘wolfishly’ applied to it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reamas poked his head into the main bedroom, looking at it for a few seconds before glancing back into the central living area. Yes, it would work. He’d known that the second he’d walked in, though he liked to put on a good show for Brandon’s friends. The penthouse was spacious, and had quite a few rooms, as well as a wonderful view of the downtown skyline. It was very similar to the one he had back in Columbia City. He returned to Brandon’s friend, who was standing somewhat awkwardly next to Sean. “Yes, this is quite nice.” Reamas pretended to think for a moment, “I’ll take it.” he handed the man an envelope. “Now that’s quite a bit more than the actual price for this place. I need to rent out a few apartments in certain neighborhoods, to use as safehouses. Take the extra and use it to rent those out. I took the liberty of doubling your commision for the trouble.” “Sure.” the man said, taking the envelope. “But which neighborhoods—” “There’s a map in the envelope. Send me a list of addresses when you’ve rented them all out.” “Uhh sure.” the man continued to stand there awkwardly until Sean grabbed him by the shoulder and steered him away. Sean returned a few minutes later with a bottle of whiskey. “You had that in the car?” Reamas asked his old friend, a slight smile playing across his lips. “Of course. I never leave Columbia without a good bottle of whiskey.” Sean said with a grin, popping the top off of this bottle and digging around for a tumbler. “And you couldn’t leave it in the warehouse because of the Wolves might find it.” Reamas said, rolling his eyes but smiling all the same. “You know me so well.” Sean said, placing a tumbler on the bar and filling it with amber liquid. He took a drink, swirling it around as he leaned back against the bar, looking out the window. “Well, things have gone well so far. We avoided having to extort that royal out of her tickets, luckily. That could have caused some problems.” Reamas nodded, walking out onto the balcony. “The first heist went well, it seems. I don’t think the police will be onto us for some time, and even then, they won’t catch us.”
xinoehp512 he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 After another three hours of fruitless wandering the city, Rumpelstiltskin collapsed wearily onto one of the public pedestrian seating constructions. This was hopeless. He'd already nearly been run over by one or another of the humans' quince-cursed horseless contraptions more than ten times now. He could hardly fathom how anyone in this city was still alive with those death-machines running wild practically everywhere. It was strange, and it was new. So, so much different from magic, which had been the same for millennia and would continue to be the same for millennia more. That is, if humans didn't wipe it out first. Rumpelstiltskin sighed and stood back up. He'd taken a long enough break. Time to get back to searching. Quote @Dr. Dapper, what are your characters planning?
old man moomba he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote Well, I don't have all the minutiae of it worked out yet (though Reamas would) but it involves stealing something very valuable (probably the crown jewels) and possibly toppling the current government, though that might take a bit longer.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote Hmm. Possibly something magical and/or fate related? Also, why are they toppling the government?
old man moomba he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote Well, the head of the Animal People (and by extension Reamas) thinks that the current system of rule is outdated and broken, and he wants to replace it with something better.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 2 minutes ago, Dr. Dapper said: Well, the head of the Animal People (and by extension Reamas) thinks that the current system of rule is outdated and broken, and he wants to replace it with something better. Quote What do they want to replace it with?
old man moomba he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote Likely a parliamentary rebublic or something similar.
King Aragorn of Gondor Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Sky had given her warning of the girl coming, so Lynn wasn't surprised at her presence. But then she said something about having her description. "Is that a good thing?" Lynn said cooly, even though she was panicking inside. Who was her boss? What does this mean? And a multitude of other questions came to her head, going on a loop. @Dr. Dapper
old man moomba he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote Because a parliamentary rebublic has a lot of wiggle room and it gives a good amount of representation to the people. Though everything would be up in the air, and the boss might leave it to a vote.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote But why do they care about what the government system of this place (side note: where is this place?)is?
old man moomba he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote Well in a parliamentary republic, the People would have some seats in the system. That and the fact that they actually care about the citizens of whatever country this takes place in. “Well it's not necessarily a good thing, but it's not a bad thing either. I don’t have any specific orders other than to keep an eye out.” Maggie shrugged, glancing down the street as if Reamas could turn the corner any second. “I’ve never met a fairy before and...” she thought back to when she’d first learned about spirit bonding. She’d wanted to do magic so bad, and at the time, it seemed like the best way. Not that she regretted it. No, she wouldn’t trade it in for magic like most mortals did. That took years of learning and memorization, whereas spirit magic was instinctive. “It’s a long story, but I've always been interested in fae.”
xinoehp512 he/him Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote Your people live in a different place though, right? One with it's own government?
King Aragorn of Gondor Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Lynn studied the girl, not sure what to say, then turned and looked at Allie, "I guess I'll see you around." She turned away, and hesitated, she went over to Allie, "I'll be living in the palace for a couple of weeks," she whispered, "If you need anything, you can come to me." She glanced at the girl again, "Now you've seen me." Then, took flight, heading towards the palace. @Dr. Dapper @WrathofaShardKitten Quote Where is Ash now? @Bluest
Bluest she/her Posted March 18, 2020 Author Posted March 18, 2020 "I'll be needing an extra room for a while," Ash said to Mrs. Luxdoen. Mrs. Luxdoen was the head maid of the palace and by far the kindest woman Ash knew. If anyone could secure a room, it would be her. She also wouldn't go around spreading nasty rumors about why she needed one. Ash trusted her completely. "I have a friend who will be staying with me. She has no where else to go and I expect that she will be treated well," she explained. Mrs. Luxdoen smiled understandingly. "Of course Ms. She'll be careful for when you can't be here. What else do you expect?" "You know how the maids can be., And if not them, then the visiting aristocracy." "Yes. Vicious girls." She nodded her head. "I'll keep her out of their claws. Promise. Now go on. I believe you still have some things to do." Mrs. Luxdoen pat Ash on the back, motioning her on. "Thank you so very much." Ash went on to busy herself with preparations to the ball, but first she would check up on Charles first.
old man moomba he/him Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Maggie laughed out loud. “I suppose I have.” she chuckled, pulling out her phone and calling Reamas. “I saw one of the fae you met earlier. The raven winged one.” On the other end of the phone, Reamas raised an eyebrow. “Really? Just by chance?” “Yeah, and she’s staying in the palace apparently.” “Ah, of course. With Ash most likely.” Reamas nodded as he factored the information into his plan. “Well that’ll make things interesting. Also, you’ll be happy to know we found a good apartment, so we don’t have to spend all our time in that warehouse.” “Thank the Elders.” Maggie breathed, “Can you give me an address? I’d like to check it out.” Reamas gave her the address and hung up the phone. Maggie nodded to the other girl. “See you around, I suppose.” she got in her car and drove away, wondering what Reamas meant by ‘interesting’. When he said ‘that’ll make things interesting’ it usually translated to ‘things just got a lot harder.’
