Just a random thought to pop up in my head. So we know that Surges have aspects to them that go beyond the Physical Realm into the other Realms as per Dalinar's usage of Adhesion shows. The thought I had was, could an ability of Abrasion make other powers "slide" off of them? Basically make them untouchable to other powers? What are your thoughts?

Just having investiture will have that effect as investiture resists investiture.  Abrasion might be better because you can coat yourself in it but illusions will work to or just sucking in stormlight.  Lift does seem to have some excellent interpersonal and communication skills considering her background as a reclusive thief with no close friends.

Just having Investiture doesn't protect you from all Investiture, Soothing/Rioting working on Invested people is proof of that. Standard Investiture interference seems to be more centered on physical manipulation than anything else.

If a person is invested enough Soothing will work worse on them.

Do you have a source? The only WoB I could find related to it was RAFOd. Mistborn burning metals (other than Copper) haven't been shown to be any more immune than anyone else and they are the most Invested people on Scadrial on average.

Also there is this

Mark Lindberg (paraphrased)

Would emotion spren react in any way if a Rioter or Soother were operating in the area?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Yes, you would be able to see that sort of change if you were paying attention.

If it can affect Spren who are made out of Investiture (Also, Steel and Iron Allomancy affect Atium which is made out of Investiture) then it would take a decent amount of Investiture to block Soothing. What I'm bringing up with the Abrasion thought I had is something that is a power, something that could be used without needing tons of Investiture, something more efficient.

In the WoR epigraph Lightweavers are mentioned as "providing spiritual sustenance", we do see Shallan doing that multiple times, possibly Renarin too, when Adolin sees "a perfect version of himself", Kaladin does seem to have binding leadership qualities and people gravitate towards them...

These touches are meant to be subtle, I think. With ideas influencing the world, (what with there being a literal realm of existence of ideas). Edgedancers might definitely turn out to be slippery in more ways than one...

Questioner

God-King versus God-King. Susebron versus Rashek, who comes out on top?

Brandon Sanderson

Rashek, probably.

Questioner

By a lot or a little?

Brandon Sanderson

Well, here's the thing. I think Susebron is at the disadvantage in almost every situation.

Questioner

Okay. How so?

Brandon Sanderson

Rashek has been alive longer. Rashek knows what he's doing. Rashek has martial training. Rashek has killed a lot of people, Susebron never has. Fewer scruples. His magic is way more combat-oriented. He can get out of range a lot easier. He has power emotional Allomancy, which Susebron would *inaudible*.

Granted, he's got so much investiture, he may be able to shrug that off. But still, I would put Rashek at the advantage.
