Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 So, I just read Firstborn, and it was awesome. It's hard to pick just one thing that made it stand out, it's a really great character piece. 2
Joe ST he/him Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 indeed, its a great little story, Defending Elysium's at a similar level of awesome disclaimer: I'm a fanboy >.> 1
whynaut Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 It was actually listening to this book on the Tor.com podcast that made me start reading Brandon Sanderson in the first place. 1
Rayonn Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Firstborn was indeed very good. Did anyone other than me start reading in hopes that it was about Space-age Scadrial?
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 You know, I had the thought halfway through of "Hey, what if this is actually Scadrial's future, and Brandon's going to totally blow our minds?" Though I say that as if the second part isn't a given.
Gustopher he/him Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 You know, I had the thought halfway through of "Hey, what if this is actually Scadrial's future, and Brandon's going to totally blow our minds?" metalpony Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I thought Firstborn was a really fun read and an interesting character study between two (ideally) similar characters. Also, even though some of the technology seemed a little 'hand-wavy' to me, the story gave me even more hope for Sanderson's third Mistborn trilogy. 1
Aeshdan he/him Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I partcularly liked Brandon coming up with a logical explanation for how we could have real-time comm across distances that took months to travel.
variety.of.passions she/her Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Even though Brandon is a "fantasy" author, it was wonderful to read a sci-fi story that he'd written. I'd like to see more sci-fi in the future 1
Pinpoint he/him Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I think that the best part was where the worst strategist comes up with the best strategy in the end
