The Returned

Heya everyone, I was just wondering, once the Returned die a second time there is absolutely no way to bring them back, right? I just wanted to confirm because my friend who just got into Warbreaker asked me if Lightsong

could be brought back to life, and I told him he couldn't because he was already like a Cognitive Shadow after being Returned once so he couldn't do it again.

I don't think it is "impossible" for a returned to be re-returned, but it would fully depend on Endowment's will, as he would be able to give them a new Divine Breath.

That said, all "resurrections" in the Cosmere have to happen just after the death, so no coming back for Lightsong.

Theoretically, I can't think of anything that would say a Returned can't Return again. Practically, a Returned who'd died likely had either completed the goal they were sent back for, or had failed at the goal. So either one wouldn't really make the person a good candidate to Return again.

Lightsong could possibly return if he was like the Heralds in that he was resurrected somewhere else readily after his death (that we don't know about). He wouldn't be a true Returned if he did return, which he likely won't
