Is Soulcast meat automatically cooked?

Pretty much what the title says, because I can't remember and my books are 200 miles away so I can't check. When you Soulcast meat, does it end up automatically cooked or do you have to proceed to cook it post-casting? It seems like it would make more sense for the former to avoid spoiling the meat in certain situations, but then how over-cooked must some of the meat be when you cook it with other stuff?

Also, is this variable? Could you change it based on the skill/intent of the Soulcasting person?

Not sure it would be. I do not recall any indication that the meat is produced cooked. Nor do I recall that occurring for any of the other essences such as grain. They do have spices, so they could preserve the meat that way.
