Just a quick question, so are all of the magic systems in Brandon Sanderson's books somewhat connected in the ways that they are used or where they draw their power from?

Good question! The answer is yes.  All of Sanderson’s Cosmere books have magic systems that use Investiture. Investiture is the power source for the magic basically, and manifests itself in different ways on each of the planets in the Cosmere (Metallic Arts on Scadrial or Awakening on Nalthis for example). I hope that makes sense! Hopefully someone else will come along who can answer your question better than me.
