Lord Mist
Does anyone know if it has been asked about a link between Trell from Mistborn and all the eyes seen in Skyward? Thanks,
+Artemos he/him
Unfortunately, Skyward isn't cosmere, so they can't be related. I don't think we know enough about either to say there's even a writerly connection.
Lord Mist
well in Mistborn, it talks about the 1000 eyes of Trell. In Skyward Spensa see all the eyes when she jumps. Is it in stone that Skyward is not Cosmere?

Skyward is in the same universe as the Defending Elysium short story, which is based on Earth. Any story with Earth in it is not going to be in the Cosmere, and Brandon has confirmed this a number of times. That being said, there was some chance that Skyward was going to be in the Cosmere originally, which might be where the similarity comes from. Or it could just be that Brandon likes that theme/idea. Quote Questioner Is Skyward in the Cosmere? Brandon Sanderson No, Skyward is not in the Cosmere. It started out there, and I pulled it out for continuity reasons. It is related to something else I’ve written in the past, though. WorldCon 76 (Aug. 18, 2018) Quote Questioner Is this new book in the cosmere, or is it just a shoot-off? Brandon Sanderson Which one, Skyward? Skyward is not cosmere. Oathbringer release party (Nov. 13, 2017) Quote Questioner Is Skyward going to be part of the cosmere at all? Brandon Sanderson It is unrelated to the cosmere - since Earth is part of its history, and because certain elements of space travel are done differently. Skyward Pre-Release AMA (Oct. 12, 2018) You'll like this one a lot, though. Quote WeiryWriter At one point in time you were planning for Skyward to be in the cosmere, which is no longer the case. If you were to pick a Shard, or Shards, that would fit Skyward what would they be? (Not necessarily the Shard that would have been featured in-cosmere, but a hypothetical Shard that fits the book/world in its current state.) Brandon Sanderson Skyward was more "The travels of Spensa, space pilot" than a true story back when it was in the cosmere. But as the story is right now, I'd say Autonomy would find it very interesting. Trell is a Shard, we've known this for a while. All things in the Cosmere that are on the level of gods or demigods are related to the Shards in some way. We know that 'Trellium' is from a Shard that we know and that the Shard associated with that metal is the same entity calling themself Trell, meaning that Brandon isn't trying to trick us with an unknown Shard using someone else's metal. The list of possible candidates for Trell is a very short one since most of the known Shards aren't viable candidates and Brandon conclusively dismissed Endowment who was one of the vaguely possible options. The most likely candidate is Autonomy, who likes meddling with other worlds and creates Avatars as part of her plans.
