why not dig a moat at nebrask?

exactly what the title says. though water is inefficient for dissolving chalklings, a moat would still be a difficult obstacle for them. I think it was said they crossed the isles on logs or stuff, which on a moat you cannot do - as of course there will still be the army around to stop those attempts.

Seems more effective than a chalk circle that can be broken with effort. If nothing else, you can still put the chalk circle outside of the moat.

In Rithmatist there's a Tower in Nebrask, why don't the Rithmatists just build a big moat of acid around it?

Brandon Sanderson

You'll see, when I get there. They have tri-- Number one, a big moat of acid is really hard, you think about how much acid you would have to get in there? It's got to be enormous. Because remember the Tower moves.

Questioner

Okay, didn't know that.

Brandon Sanderson

Yes, the Tower moves, and so there's this huge swath they have to keep defended, it's enormous. But that's one of the big things, the other thing is you can't just leave them there because they will find a way across, 'cause they know how to cross boats and things now. Because they can get between the islands.

In other words, the area you'd need to enclose with a moat to completely isolate the Tower is huge and the logistics daunting even if you're using water rather than acid, and it will only slow rather than stop them because they'll still find a way across it.

IIRC, In the Rithmatist, they say that the Tower has not been seen moving in a long time, or something along those lines
