Deshattering shard

Is it possible to unshatter a shard, or if odium kills a shard is it permanent. I remember Wit saying something to Dalinar about how if Odium found him he would shatter him and he could never reform. If this is true then the fight against odium is much more desperate

Hmmm this makes me wonder if Splintering is different than Shattering.  Shattering we know can be eventually mended, as Crystal noted above.  But can Splintering be mended?

 

I mean, Splinters have gained sentience as themselves.  Looking at honorspren, it would be really hard to actually kill Syl for example.  Kaladin could destroy her mind, but she wouldn't be completely dead, just mindless.  You'd have to reassemble a significant number of Splinters in order to reassemble.

 

You would have to fix all the Splinters before you can fix the Shattering in any event, so I would say it'd be pretty hectically difficult.

Is Splintering really something that needs to be mended though?  Those Splinters of Honor like honorspren predated the Shattering of Honor and things seemed to get along just fine (well, relatively fine, being Roshar and all).  If Adonalsium needs to have all the Splinters to be reformed, then maybe, but I would guess that's not necessary.
